Garda (Irish Police) Van clamped for Illegal Parking

My opinion
Gardai have the responsibility to park in a legal and safe manner unless it is an emergency. In an emergency the car would likely be closer to the emergency and a garda presence would be nearby.

They enforce the law on the rest of us, so parking on a double yellow to get chips or a coffee is unacceptable behaviour in my opinion. They do it at a junction on a hill within 15 metres of turning traffic on Parkgate street and it is stupid behaviour, you see the gardai in a fast food place there ordering chips or fish. They are entitled to get lunch but shouldn't abuse the power given to them if they expect other members of the public to respect their behaviour.

I guess the only pull back to that, is that if they get called to an emergency they are parked nearby. However people's regard for people who enforce the law gets diminished when you see Gardai choosing to disobey the law, or parking in a dangerous manner in some situations, putting other people's lives at risk for their own convenience

Is it ok for the police to disobey traffic laws for their own convenience when there is no emergency happening?
