Preparing for interactive organ storytelling event at my church

in #palnet5 years ago

Tomorrow I have an organ event for kindergarten kids at our church. It's called "Pipe Organ Tells A Story" (I know, in English it doesn't sound very appealing to the children but in Lithuanian "Vargonai seka pasaką" sounds nice.

I went to the Cultural Center of Vilnius University in the morning to pick up some art supplies for tomorrow's event. We will need 15 sets of 12 color crayons, 15 containers for them, a long roll of paper which we will tape to the floor of the organ balcony.

For this reason I asked the genitors of the church to wash the floors yesterday so that the kids could sit on the floor and draw.

I will tell them and play a story about Pinky and Spiky building an organ and they will draw all the characters and the action and the pipe organ.

My goal is that the kids would have an interactive experience about pipe organs and the memory and experience would stay with them for much longer than if they would be just observers.

I will of course let you know how it went tomorrow.

Pinky and Spiky are now going to be a part of these children's history. Can't wait to see some photos

Yes, it amazes me how silly stories about a rather smart piglet and an overweight hedgehog can be so appealing to people around the world...

That sounds very interesting. On one of the school assemblies that my class led when I was a class teacher, we created a soundscape. We used simple percussion instruments and told a story.
