WOULD YOU JOIN THE FLAG WAR?

My last steem related post for the week. Enjoy

So last week my friend @adetorrent got under somebody's skin i suppose and got downvoted. But im guessing he, the said abuser, has come to the realization that you can't fight the community, whether you're a whale or not. You don't have the resources. It either you give in or leave. Even the most hated person on steem hasn't been active on his major account. Turns out he is back in and ready to join #newsteem. To be honest, if this is the only thing this hardfork will achieve then I'm fine with it. You can be anti-steem all you want but you can't rape our reward pool like you used to.

I also searched one of the accounts I'm not so fond of. So this man has a habit of doing a bad thing with poetry and his steempower. I'm particular about this account because he and his team deceived a lot of steemians, using them as pawns to push their selfish agenda.

So when i first got here i came across his discord channel. He did little for the little guys whilst exploiting, preaching their false gossip of engagement whilst he shitposted his way to the top. A lot of us knew this, even joked about it in other discord groups because it was so obvious. We just didn't have the balls to call out his bullshit.

Unfortunately, a lot of discord communities began to disintegrate, so did his. Now he doesn't enjoy a large following of blind steemians and has resorted to self voting eight times a day. Even using bid bots thrice a week makes me uncomfortable. I have never really come to terms with the idea of rewarding myself, i have done this in the past as a necessary evil but it feels counterproductive. However, some people feel no remorse obviously. Imagine having over 100k worth of steem power and having no clue what to do with it. It goes to show that you're out of touch with the community and the ongoing developments here because every sane person here with large stake wants to curate. How hard is it to curate really? It's not like there are a million and one options to choose from. Your options are limited by the size of community but unfortunately, a lot of us are lazy and probably don't carry about steem.

So now to the question: would you fight abuse?

I'm yet to use my downvote. I'm scared of retaliation which i shouldn't. There's are so many people fighting this war that it's almost impossible for these abusers to win. They know this. That's why a lot of them are silent now, maybe powering downing and leaving but that won't matter in the long run if we keep this momentum and grow our user base and diversity on the ecosystem. I don't have the right formula but advertisement and maybe a collaboration with other projects with similar goals like ours won't hurt at this point.

You can still play it safe and still be part of the revolution. There are certain curation teams targeting abusers you can delegate to. I think @markkujantunen mentioned
one some days back. It takes a lot of guts to stand up to people, most of us do not have that and that's perfectly fine. There are people willing to do that for the community. We can support them.

Quality is a very subjective thing and i probably may never flag anyone for that. But honestly if you're going to make eight posts per day with no engagement and rewarding yourself, then you deserve to be on everyone's blacklist, that's my take. I don't know why anyone would be doing that now. It just shows that you've not been doing your homework. There is a better incentive to curate than self vote. And i really do not know why people are so obsessed about having more of less. Don't people understand how steem inflation works?

Anyways, that is all for now. Going to play steemmonsters and get some good sleep. I have an introduction video to make for my LinkedIn page and another video to edit, so tomorrow is looking like a busy day for me.
