How very impressive and so good to see that libraries are flourishing in this modern day @melinda010100. I had no idea that Chicago had the largest library in the world!
I wonder if they had to rebuild it today if they would spend $144 million dollars to build it. Things have changed a lot since 1991!

They can be viewed in 'Special Collections' where they are displayed in a glass case, but you unless you wanted to read up on Prince Albert you probably wouldn't want to borrow them anyway!

That is an interesting building. Have you ever gone inside? I've never ventured in there... but I'm guessing you can't check out the books autographed by the queen!
Both of the books she donated are about Prince Albert. I wonder if they have been digitized? I have not gone in, but my daughter in law has used the library several times since she moved to Chicago.

Howdy Melinda! Very interesting...the largest library building in the world! Wow, and it looks magnificent, I'm glad they went with that style of architecture.
I can't tell you how many times I have gone past that building and never noticed the wise old owls on the roof! It pays to get out and walk!
yes, I guess you wouldn't have been looking up that high if you were in a car, probably couldn't have. It's a remarkable building and such unique sculptures on top!
