How much is the beneficiary cut?

in #palnet5 years ago (edited)

This morning I saw a post from @acidyo Godfather of OCDB , about people using OCDB when they post from dapps that take a beneficiary cut. In case you don't know, OCDB is a non profit bid that offers 10% ROI.

If you use certain dapps to make a post and then use OCDB to purchase a bid, you may find that your 10% profit from OCDB goes to the posting dapp instead of your wallet. It seems quite a lot of people either don't think about this or aren't aware that the dapps take a cut. One good way to check it as @r00sj3 has commented on the post, and I also discovered recently, is through @Steempeak.

If you go into the post and hoover your mouse over the post payout, you'll see the the beneficiary cut %. As a side note, Steempeak will also show the post payout in Steem and other tokens, which is really handy.

Given it's Sunday today, I figured I'd do a public service in case you can't be bothered or don't have time to check the different beneficiary % yourself. I went onto Steempeak and looked at posts with all the dapps tag that I'm aware of. Here's the beneficiary % I found:

DappsBeneficiary %
Trip.steem5%
Share2steem5% - 8%
Steemstem (optional)5% - 10%
Tasteem9%
dtube10%
esteem10%
appics10%
Dlike10%
TokenBB10%
Dpoll10%
VimmTV12%
Steempress15%
Ntopaz15%
Steemhunt15%
Dsound25%

I've only posted through a handful of these dapps so can't comment on all of them. I don't know why there is a range for a couple of them, and whether you get some sort of reward or token or dividend back from the dapp to compensate for the beneficiary cut. For the ones I've used before such as @trip.steem and @tasteem you will get an upvote if your post fulfills their criteria. For others like @Steempress, @esteem, @dtube and @notopaz, upvotes are not guaranteed particularly if you're a newbie, not a regular user or don't get curated. I am told @steemstem is a voluntary donation. Anyway, the bottom line is, as @acidyo pointed out in his post, if you use OCDB bot, the 10% ROI will be wiped out by the beneficiary cut. Further more, if you use other bid bots, your loss will be further exacerbated.

I hope this list is useful, and if there are any dapps that also take a cut, please do let me know. I'll add them to this list. Thanks

ps @busy also take a 10% cut but you have the option to remove this and still get an upvote. Thanks @busy.

I use @eSteemapp and am very pleased to be able to give them a cut of my rewards! Every site needs money to continue operating and growing and I would much rather support them through beneficiary rewards, rather than having advertisements. I'm happy to support my favorite front end site!

That's fair enough because it does take a lot of time and effort, not to mention cost to run a front end. Without the mutual support, where would we be in this world?

I agree, and with eSteem I get far more back from them than I give them in beneficiary payouts.
