The Netherlands, the most open country for marijuana in the past 50 years!

The Dutch attitude towards cannabis is called a gedoogbeleid.

On February 21, 2017, the Netherlands passed a bill allowing the cultivation of cannabis, allowing residents to grow no more than 5 strains of cannabis.

In 1976, the Dutch Opium Law Amendment divided drugs into two categories:
Hard drugs: such as heroin, cocaine, etc., which cause great health hazards and are highly addictive.
Soft drugs: such as marijuana, etc., that is, the health risks to the human body are not so great.

The marijuana cafes began to appear in the private sector, and their industry rules were to ban hard drugs and sell soft drugs.
The national authorities did not ban the marijuana cafes.

With the increase in cannabis cafes, by 2001,
The Netherlands clearly stipulates that marijuana cafes must comply with the following regulations ,
it will not be prosecuted for selling marijuana:

  1. The cannabis sold to each person per day shall not exceed 5 grams;
  2. Do not sell hard drugs;
  3. Do not publish drug advertisements;
  4. No nuisance behavior;
  5. Do not allow people under the age of 18 to enter or sell drugs to them.

Anti-drug results in the Netherlands:
The number of people who use hard drugs in the Netherlands has decreased year by year, making it the country with the least number of European addicts.
Therefore, it has been suggested that marijuana is not alcoholism and does not make people fascinated. It is only a phased physiological phenomenon in life.
70% of people do not go to hard drugs after smoking marijuana.

Therefore, opening marijuana can help reduce the harm of drug abuse.

1.向每人每天出售的大麻不得超过5克;
2.不得出售硬性毒品;
3.不得刊登毒品广告;
4.不造成滋扰行为;

Hi @cloudblade

I've been in Amsterdam few times already and even lately I was amazed to witness how people are okey with usage of M.

In my opinion by legalizing marijuana this country managed to get rid of "black market" (which always attract very unusual kind of people).

And people know what they are buying. They are also more aware. And goverments have great profit from taxes. That's my view at the moment.

Upvote on the way :)

Cheers,
Piotr

Amsterdam is not exactly a good example of the Netherlands.
People, there are completely different if it comes to attitude and by now there are more foreigners as Dutchmen. Whole parts of the city are a dump.
Rotterdam is the same, but the tolerance is there as long as you do not bother other people. It is seen as smoking, although you can bake a cake too or use it over your pizza.

A bit of a user grows his own plants and tax has zero, no profit. With 5 plants a person, you can do interesting things. You really think the police knocks on every door? As long as neighbours are not complaining about the smell and there is nothing weird with the electricity bill you can grow more too.

Btw the only thing I can, even have to, pay with bitcoin Is if I buy cannabis online. They can trace me (tax) but not the seller.

You can also ask your doctor for a recipe. If you get it it is for free.

Indeed no one steals car radios etc any longer.

Now we are stabbed in the back, scolded at, spit and threatened by gangs of foreigners who think we accept everything and pay whatever they ask.

I think the government is want paying taxes, saying that it can reduce the drug use rate is an excuse.

Didn't you go in and take a look?
I heard that they have >1,000 cannabis cafes,
The convenience such as 7-11.

They have 1000 just in Amsterdam? For sure mainly for the tourists. They also sell seeds and other stuff you might need and do not have every cannabis (we call it wiet there is).

You should now see California, Colorado, and Oregon! The black market is very much alive and thriving though, which im sure it is over there. But with time im sure we will see the shift.

Interesting post with good information.
Thanks to @wakeupkitty who featured you in the Pay it Forward Curation Contest. Keep up the great work!

As a dutchie some info isn’t all correct but it’s true we have a cannabis economy here. I found your blog through the feature blog by @wakeupkittybhave a great day

I am not Dutch.
that is after watching some news ,
After reading a lot of relevant news,
that is my thinking after reading.
What are you saying that it is not very correct?

Well that a long story and not for this time but it’s not that by the gedoogbeleid our issues with drugs in general are less big. I am not a fan but that’s a political matter that’s also to long to comment on

To understanding,
I'm a foreigner,
I watched those news reports
News regard the Dutch policy as gedoogbeleid
So I didn’t think about the locals’ views.
Thank you for your notice.
