Last week I didn't plan to do a reportage on an ancient village festival, but that's exactly what happened!

Last Sunday I was in Valstagna, a small village in the countryside, bordered by the Brenta River and the ancient raft race was taking place!

La scorsa settimana non avevo in programma di fare un reportage di una antica festa paesana, ma è andata proprio così!

La scorsa domenica sono stato a Valstagna, un paesino immerso nel verde, costeggiato dal Fiume Brenta e si stava svolgento l'antico Palio delle Zattere!

Nine teams representing the city districts would compete in a reckless speed race along the river.

Nove squadre rappresentanti le contrade cittadine si sarebbero sfidate in una spericolata gara di velocità lungo il fiume.

There were already many people like me who walked along the main road to approach where the live of the event would take place.

C'erano già molte persone che, come me camminavano lungo la strada principale per avvicinarsi dove si sarebbe svolto il vivo della manifestazione.

Meanwhile, groups of people had fun going down the river on the rafts, I never tried, it must be fun!

Intanto gruppi di persone si divertivano a scendere il fiume sui gommoni.
Non ho mai provato, deve essere divertente!

A little later a parade with the yawners would take place, you could hear the drums marking the pace and echoing on the houses and walls of the mountains.

Di li a poco si sarebbe svolta la parata degli sbadieratori.
Si sentivano i tamburi scandire il passo ed eccheggiare sulle case e pareti delle montagne.

They were very good, I always wondered where they train to perform those movements so well... probably in sports halls...

Erano molto bravi, mi sono sempre chiesto dove si allenano per eseguire quei movimenti così bene...probabilmente nei palazzetti dello sport...

Subsequently it was the turn of the parade of ancient trades.
The volunteers have lent themselves to representing the trades of the past with clothes and vintage objects.

Successivamente è stato il turno della sfilata degli antichi mestieri.
I volontari si sono prestati a rappresentare con vestiti e oggetti d'epoca i mestieri di una volta.

After the parade I followed the flow of people heading towards a good point from where to observe the race.

It was nice to see people relax by the water, that place is beautiful!

Dopo la parata ho seguito il flusso di persone che si dirigeva verso un buon punto da cui osservare la gara.

Era bello vedere le persone rilassarsi vicino all'acqua, quel luogo è bellissimo!

I also take a picture of these three girls dressed specifically for the event.
A man explained to me that they were the daughters of the raftsmen...

Ho scatto una foto anche a queste tre ragazze vestite appositamente per la manifestazione.
Un uomo mi ha spiegato che erano le figlie degli zatterieri...

Against all odds just five minutes before the race the sky became overcast, a strong wind rose and it started to rain!

Contro ogni previsione, appena cinque minuti prima della gara, il cielo si è annuvolato, si è alzato un vento forte e ha iniziato a piovere!

A storm was coming and people were starting to go away or take refuge in the various bars and restaurants nearby.
The speaker kept repeating that the race would take place anyway and I started running in search of a place sheltered from the rain.

Stava per arrivare una tempesta e la gente cominciava ad andare via o a rifugiarsi nei vari bar e ristoranti li vicino.
Lo speaker continuava a ripetere che la gara si sarebbe svolta lo stesso e io ho iniziato a correre in cerca di un posto riparato dalla pioggia.

There was a church a few meters away!
I managed to protect myself between a column and the entrance, I was almost stuck! :D

C'era una chiesa a pochi metri!
Sono riuscito a proteggermi tra una colonna e l'ingresso, ero quasi incastrato! :D

People have started running in all directions and some have entered the church and I enjoyed photographing them! : D

Le persone hanno cominciato a correre in tutte le direzioni, alcune sono entrate in chiesa e io mi sono divertito a fotografarle! :D

This group of friends who wanted to protect themselves from the rain standing under the tree with the yellow rubber boat in the background made me laugh! :D

Questo gruppo di amici che voleva proteggersi dalla pioggia stando sotto l'alberello con sullo sfondo il gommone giallo, mi ha fatto ridere! :D

This lonely man was heartbroken.
He walked slowly looking at the ground regardless of the storm!

The colored umbrella stood out in those gray minutes.

Quest'uomo solitario, era affranto.
Camminava piano guardando per terra, incurante della tempesta!

L'ombrello colorato spiccava in quei minuti di grigiore.

The speaker meanwhile made the chronicle of the race emphasizing the epic moment and some people turned towards the river to watch the rafts compete.

Lo speaker nel frattempo faceva la cronaca della gara enfatizzando l'epicità del momento e alcune persone si sono dirette verso la riva del fiume per guardare gli zatterieri gareggiare.

A raft comes out of the curve and finally people could scream and whistle to incite them.

ITA

Una zattera sbucò fuori dalla curva e finalmente le persone poterono urlare e fischiare per incitarli.

From inside the church, people tried to see the race...

Da dentro la chiesa le persone cercavano di vedere la gara...

Unbelievable but true, as soon as the race ended the sun came out so people started pouring into the street.

Incredibile ma vero, appena finita la gara è uscito il sole così la gente ha cominciato a riversarsi in strada.

Near the opposite bank of the river the water had a yellowish color, the strong current had raised the sediments where the bottom was higher.

Vicino alla riva opposta del fiume l'acqua si era colora di un colore giallino.
La forte corrente aveva alzato i sedimenti dove il fondale era più alto.

I walked towards the square and people gathered for the time of the awarding.

ITA

Mi sono incamminato verso la piazza e la gente era riunita in attesa della premiazione.

Satisfied with the day, I headed to the car and took one last photo...

Soddisfatto della giornata, mi sono diretto verso la macchina e ho scattato un'ultima foto...

That Sunday was incredible!
I'm sorry that due to bad weather the event was a bit ruined, but from my point of view as a photographer, it was fantastic!

I captured many different moments between them.
A dynamic day that I will remember as memorable!

This is why I wanted to commit myself to making a post so long and full of photos.

For me Steemit is an album of memories that remains indelible in the blockchain and that I can relate to even in 10 years, beautiful !!

Quella domenica è stato incredibile!
Mi dispiace che a causa del maltempo la manifestazione sia stata un po' rovinata, ma dal mio punto di vista da fotografo, è stato fantastico!

Ho catturato molti momenti diversi tra loro.
Una giornata dinamica che ricorderò come memorabile!

Per questo ho voluto impegnarmi a fare un post così lungo e ricco di foto.

Per me Steemit è un album dei ricordi che resta indelibile nella blockchain e che potrò riguardare anche fra 10 anni, bellissimo!!
