I'm sorry this happened to you ... hard lesson to learn, I know.
Maybe you can earn more here ... try looking up "50 highest paying tags" in the Steemit search. That helped me do a bit better, just knowing what tags have people interested in reading and upvoting. Be careful, though... make sure what you do fits the tags you choose, or you may get downvotes.
