No Other gods Before Me: The Occult, Germanic Paganism, and the ONE true GOD (an intro)

in #paganism7 years ago (edited)

no_other_gods.jpgAs the name of this post suggests, we will discuss the Occult, Germanic Paganism, and the ONE true GOD. Even though the latter are the primary topics of discussion, there will be other discussions as well that branch off of the primary topics. Most of these topics will come from the perspective of someone who has “been-there-done-that”. I welcome others who are curious about these topics to chime in. I also welcome others to share their experiences and perspective on the topics. There are more of us out there than many may realize.

Many know us as we are now, but have no idea who we used to be and what we used to believe. A majority of testimonies normally speak of drug addiction, alcoholism, backslidden believers, and adultery. And of course, we rejoice in such testimonies. The testimony of the New Ager, Pagan, or Occultist is not the normal one that the “church” hears. I believe that this is unfortunate. We are to share our stories of YHWH's amazing mercy and grace.

What I find most interesting is that while the Word of YHWH does speak of adultery and drunkenness, what our Heavenly Father makes very clear is His hatred for idol worship, divination, and the shedding of innocent blood. This is very important to understand. We may make up a small percentage of those who are born-again, but we have a perspective that the average Christian does not have. I feel that it is important to the Body of Messiah that we speak up and educate our brethren on the deceptive nature of the occult and paganism.

Why does YHWH consistently express hatred for the practices of divination, witchcraft, and the worship of other gods? Surely it must be important to our Heavenly Father that we not do or entertain such things. His first commandment, given to Moses at Mt. Sinai, could have been “you shall not murder” or “you shall not covet”, but it wasn’t. YHWH's first commandment was “You Shall Have No Other gods Before Me”. Therefore, we must know that we must not have any other gods before him. And while many wish to remove the supernatural from this commandment by associating money or fame in place of a god, our Father means what He says. He means other gods and He is serious about His commandment.

DoeplerNErthus.jpgNormally with the worship of other gods comes divination, mysticism, and sacrifice. The average believer reads over this commandment and through the Bible not realizing how important this is to our Heavenly Father. I do not fault them for doing so. From the modern perspective, it’s viewed as mythology or as a non-issue. Let me be perfectly clear, paganism is real, the occult is real and our Heavenly Father’s commandment matters. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Just because the average Christian cannot relate to this commandment, does not mean that it is a non-issue.

We must understand the importance of these topics and why it matters to the Body of Messiah. I look forward to shining some light on these issues and explaining to the reader why it is important. Deception is a problem for so many, yet they have no idea they are being deceived. Many may find fault in my perspective. Some may believe that some of what I will discuss does not matter. Look, I am not the first nor will I be the last to have a page that discusses such topics. All I ask is that you open your mind and heart to the discussion. Most importantly, pray for discernment and seek the ultimate truth giver for guidance. Again, welcome to my page. Peace and blessings to you in the name of Y’shua our Messiah!mercy-and-grace-gods-way.jpeg

Welcome to Steemit, Edwin!

Your point of view and the story you have to tell is one I'm looking forward to reading more of. It is definitely very easy for us to overlook paganism and idolatry because we are so familiar with our brand of it passed on to us in our culture. Even though my husband and I have been striving for some time to separate ourselves from these kinds of things, one thing we've noticed is how deep the problem runs: we often don't know what in our normal experience is actually stemming from occult practices and what is truly innocent. Since neither of us come from an openly occult background (meaning any occult influence is unintentional, not sought after), we don't have the sensitivity to always recognize and understand what we should.

Thank you for speaking up!

Thank you for showing an interest. I look forward to sharing my story and other things of interests with you. I may not be able to post as often as some folks, but I will try and do my best. Through it all, I hope to bring glory to our Heavenly Father.

Thank you for this, Edwin!

I was once headed in the occultic direction, but there is no doubt in my mind that I was snatched from the fire.

Thank you for speaking frankly about this. We must have eyes to see from the perspective of God what thoughts and behavior is sin and not to decide these things for ourselves. He possesses the understanding of good and evil. If we rely on our own knowledge, surely we will die. Trusting in our own knowledge is at the heart of occultism. Instead of "not my will, but thine, be done.", the occultist says "do what thou wilt, Ye shall not surely die"

Whoever despises the word brings destruction on himself, but he who reveres the commandment will be rewarded. Proverbs 13:13

Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. Revelation 22:14

Bless the Most High! @ironshield

Thank you for your reply. And you are right, we must "have eyes to see from the perspective of God". Indeed, not only eyes to see but ears to hear and a willingness to be challenged. How else will we grow in our walk with Messiah? New Age is on the rise. The Occult is no longer taboo. Paganism, in its various forms, is making a serious comeback. We must be aware of these things in order to recognize it. God bless!
