During the first world war, the states of England and France wanted to occupy the Gallipoli peninsula of Canakkale with a joint operation and use it as a starting point for the conquest of the Ottoman capital of Constantinople, Istanbul. They thought they could still with the help of the ANZAC (Australia and New Zealand Army Corps) canakkale.

1915 made a German pilot with airplanes, which were purchased from Dtl. Testflüge.Dihe he saw that English war ships approaching the coast. He notified the Komender command of the coast. This was the beginning of the battle of Gallipoli.After eight months and a half The Turkish battles could be repulsed by their leader Mustafa Kemal and the fate of their German commander Otto Liman von Sanders, the rebounds against the Dardanelles. The command of Mustafa Kemal to his soldiers: "I command you not the attack I command you to die!" Had the fate of the
Front.

Later he sent this message to the mothers and members of the family
Dead enemies:

"You heroes from England, France, Australia, New Zealand, India, who have lost their blood on this ground.You are here in a country of a friend.Repass peace.You are side by side with the Turkish soldiers.Your mothers, Who have sent their sons from afar into the battle! Stop your tears.Your sons are in our hearts.She are at peace and they will rest pleasantly. When they have left their lives on this soil, so are they from now Also our sons."
