As a lad, I was a game addict. In the early 1990s, growing up in West Africa, I remembered playing passionately several video games like Midway's Mortal Kombat and Nintendo's Street Fighter. However, my favourite game was the Super Mario. I loved the thick mustaches plastered to Mario's face and the thrilling soundtracks which accompanied every stage of the game.

Unfortunately, my parents were poor and could not even afford the cheapest game consoles in the market. So I would sneak to my friend's house to play video games, to play Super Mario. I became so good with Super Mario that I won thousands of coins, becoming the first kid to reach and complete the final stages of the game in the whole neighbourhood.

It may interest the reader to know, however, that the thousands of coins I earned playing Super Mario could not even buy me a packet of chewing gum. The coins were, I beg your pardon, as useless as mucus. The only profit I got from playing the Super Mario and other video games was the ego, the bragging rights.

Today, over two decades later, the video gaming market has grown tremendously. It was estimated at $108.9 billion per annum according to New zoo Global Games Market Report of 2017. In fact, I read it somewhere that mobile strategy games such as The Clash of Clans made a monthly revenue of over $45 million. Apart from the expanding revenue, more sophisticated games such as the Konami's PlayStation alongside several fantastic mobile games from the likes of Gameloft has been seen on java and android devices.

Nevertheless, only one thing remained largely unchanged in the gaming industry, as constant as day and night -- the inability of users to convert virtual assets into real life value. From Super Mario to Mortal Kombat, from PlayStation to Candy Crush, the virtual coins and assets earned remained as worthless as a rotten fish. The centralized game developers make money while the users who drive the market get only bragging rights as compensation. Well, a new era is now upon us:

As incredible as it may sound, I believe game develops will benefit more from the Chimaera project. This is because game developers will not need to spend time and resources on setting up servers or cloud based services. Other recurring costs, such as user account administration, will also be eliminated.

In addition, it is important to mention that scaling, a problem relating to game resolution and compatibility, has been one of the greatest challenges confronting game developers. But, the good news is that Chimaera has overcome this challenge by making significant breakthrough in Trustless Off-chain Scaling for games (Game Channels) and Ephemeral Timestamps. This means that the problem of compatibility is largely eliminated.

Lastly, Chimaera will make it possible for game developers to earn and get reward for their hardwork. If you ask me, frankly, my answer is yes. And I say this because there are no giants in the face of a superior technology. As a rule, the superior technology, when widely received by people, always overcome regardless of the unfavourable circumstances.

If the blockchain has been critically acclaimed by experts as being the next internet because of its disruptive nature, it follows that any other way of doing business in the nearest future will have to be on the blockchain. It follows that Chimaera has the potential to threaten the present industry giant in the nearest future. After all, Nokia had taken over the mobile phone industry with its Symbian OS before it was unseat and relegated by the Android OS. Anything is possible.
