OnePageX: An Exchange Without Registration

A primary attraction of cryptocurrency is the assumed anonymity the medium can provide. It’s in the name, “crypto”currency. It’s not called “explicitcurrency” for a reason. Aside from the cryptographic nature that provides the currency its public/private nature, the power of crypto is the ability to transfer the wealth one from wallet to another, one user to another, without having to go through the traditional medium of a bank, which assumes a government entity.

Centralized exchanges like Binance, has an obvious advantage of high volume and an abundance of cryptos, which make them more user friendly. But an alarming trend of these exchanges are their submission to KYC rules. Know Your Customer procedures undermine a basic tenant of cryptocurrencies: the power of anonymity. One of the largest entry points of fiat into the crypto economy, Coinbase has since moved from its position years ago of battling the IRS to now becoming fully compliant with the US government’s demands.

KYC rules empower the US government, and other authoritarian institutions, to harass individuals, track down their identity, quantify their cryptocurrency wealth, and establish a basis of legal prosecution for ‘tax fraud’. Of course, the fact that the IRS continues to follow an anachronistic method of understanding cryptocurrencies (they still can’t make up their mind WHAT it is, just that they simply need you to fork over your money) is beside the point.

One currency exchange that empowers a crypto trader to be more resilient against potential harassment from the IRS is OnePageX. They do this in a very intuitive way. How?

There is no registration.

The rest of crypto ownership, and the anonymous practices that must be followed with it, are up to the HODLer. But as far as the actual exchange goes, there is no registration. As such, there are no KYC rules to follow.

How does a registration-less exchange work?

Say you want to purchase some NEO. You go to the exchange page. Then, you select from a wide array of cryptos (+100) for the desired coin (NEO). You enter the amount of BTC you want to exchange, and the corresponding amount of NEO will automatically appear. You enter your withdrawal address and click “start exchange”. It’s as simple as that.

You’re given a new URL, which is unique. The URL must be saved by the user. You are given a BTC address to deposit your BTC into. When the deposit is complete, and the transaction is as well, your new coin will be deposited into the withdrawal address given.

Fees are low. OnePageX charges 0.5%. There’s a network free as well, but this and the other fees are shown in the estimated value. The UI is simple, which it should be. The design is nice and intuitive.

The use case for the website is anyone using cryptocurrency with an interest for privacy. Really, that should be everyone.. This exchange is a step in the right direction for where crypto needs to go.
