Origami Box
This is a simple and useful model, I use it all the time for pencil sharpenings and keeping small origami. It starts like the paper crane:
Fold the bottom corner up and unfold
Fold the top to the middle point and unfold(looks a bit of in the picture since it's going up a bit)
Fold the bottom corner to the half of the top part
Fold over the middle line, repeat on the back
Flip the layers, working on the sides now
Fold three edges to the center except the top one
Fold over the middle line(already have the fold)
Repeat on the other side and open up
Now you have a cool box :D Hope you try this out. Prepared a really cool post for tomorrow but I have to finish one part that requires printing, print office doesn't work on Sunday. I'll make it as soon as I can.
Thanks @ivan-g! This is a good way to recycle papers/newspapers for storing little rubbish :)
Newspaper size could be a big box, would layer a few though, that's really cute flower paper :D
Hehe.. thank you. I bought a stack of this origami paper from a local Japanese shop many years ago (50 pieces of 20 x 20cm costs about USD 1). Thanks to you, I now get to use them and keep them close to follow your tutorials :)
Ooo you know what, I think some people do use newspaper to make hats using this method when they paint.
Interesting, also that's a really sweet deal for origami paper :O Glad they have a good use now :D
I really like this box. I haven't seen it before is it something that you designed? I've made one here:
And then I tucked the wings underneath and it made this beautiful box with a neat border all the way around which I've been trying to do with another design for weeks .
Absolutely thrilled with this.
Here's one with it's lid:
I didn't design it ^^ it's a traditional model, really useful though. Nice design with the lid :)
I made the lid by folding the triangles slightly out from the centre in that third last step. It's the same box just slightly larger. Your box also stacks as I discovered. Thank you for sharing this.
