NextCloud is an open source collaboration suite built with privacy and security at the core - and open sourceness.
NextCloud has all the features from file sharing to chat to calendering and tons more. You can host this on your own network at home or work by simply installing a Virtual Machine or a variety of other install options that covers small use case scenarios to large corporate style. It is very flexible from the type of install you want to the apps that run on it and even the fine grained control you have over practically every aspect of it.

Interesting. I wasn't aware of that. It looks like the code is at GitHub but I don't see it being open source. I'll look into that some more. I find it interesting also that it is used by several large journalism sites.
I'm not sure if Peerio is open source. It is encrypted though, so that's great.

I will certainly look into it...I want to try and decentralize as much as I can. Cloud storage is a necessary means to get away from the googles and amazons of the world.
Data is the new real gold of digital life and saving it should be no 1 priority and seems like we have an option in the form of next cloud
