As one of the 6 judges, and as an original artist also, I aim to represent the best original artists in this contest from our wonderful Steemit community. I am keeping my ears open for cover artists as well, don't worry but creating an original song is indeed impressive, especially if executed and performed well. This week was filled with so many wonderful artists, even amongst the high amount of entries, and there were still many talented performers who entered, so forgive me if I didn't list you, I definitely heard everyone's entries. "Time looses all, panel me inside your broken glass..." Super deep lyrics and moving performance with your bassist friend @griptight. You both brought to life a beautifully reminiscent and reflective song You never fail to uncover your deepest emotions putting your undeniable passion for music on bold display. This song has so many channels of feeling, as well as, an internal struggle from an external clash of a breaking and crumbling connection. Keep fighting strong for what you love and for who you love, man. This was a really inspiring performance and your warm, grungy, power vocals always lead our souls back home. You two have given us a gem built on momentum and profound intentions, thanks for sharing and looking forward to your next entry.
2. @ilazramusic's ”Mi Juego" Original Song
Originality, Consistency, Lyricism, Profound, Catchy, Entertaining, Grooving, and Harmonious. Your entries are becoming more and more enjoyable the more I listen to your high quality and amazing songs. You are extremely talented and innovative in how you layer and structure your music. Both versions of this song have replay value and can't get enough of the reggae style genre you are leading to the forefront of our open mic community. Please keep sharing your originals, they are such a feel good treat to the ears and bring about positive uplifting vibes and I especially enjoyed your songwriting abilities with the lyrics you've provided to us, given the majority of the translation in English conveys the approach you have taken. 3. @elliotjgardner's "In Between Days" By The Cure Cover Song
Welcome back man, we can always count on you bring a highly enjoyable and clean cut performance with your gifted vocals. Everything you perform is smooth and instantly gratifying. I have never heard this song before, but you perform it as your very own, which is a fine artistic aspect in light of many karaoke-esque sounding covers that we can get from time to time. This has a very genuine and welcoming vibe to it, and I know you hold music to a high standard from how you carefully sing each note and the ambitious depth to which you end on each line. I thoroughly enjoyed this entry, you made a great cover choice that is far from cliche as it is refreshing. You continue to create profound moments and memorable music for us to enjoy. This is another captivating and beautifully somber sounding song that strings together deep imagery and poetic phrases such as the feelings of being down and blue with the hues and colours of the rainbow to the broken jagged fences being leaped over by the sheep, I loved it all. You are definitely becoming a powerhouse of emotions and a melodious painter of words indeed. May your sweet grandmother rest in peace, and you are not only kept in company of the angels but all of us here in the open mic community as well. We are so glad you found us when you did, because you have brought so much value and have consistently bestowed to us the many gifts of music in various forms. 5. @shookriya's ”Vocalised Blue Daniel" Original Song
I think you did a fantastic job here leaping out into your creative prowess and producing some real smooth vocal sounds over this tune as well as your experienced and effortless playing of both the upright bass and guitar. You layered this with just the right amount of instrumentation and all the wondrous sounds complimented one another to create that real authentic and genuine jazz sound we all highly regard and recognise with respect and admiration. The melodies of your tranquil and fluid vocals along with the subtle harmonies of the instruments were all executed tightly and yet laid back with just the right amount of slack at the same time and really brought out the ebb and flow of this catchy groove. Thanks for this jam and gem, looking forward to what you bring out next.

Absolutely loved the backstory to this beautifully moving piano composition. It reminded me very much of the biblical story of the Prodigal Son. Apparently a lot of people don't know that I, @Verbal-D, am a Hip Hop Emcee as much as I am a singer/songwriter/beat producer, so I will continue to showcase from now on The Song that inspired @Luzcypher to create the Open Mic Contest that we are all apart of today. Well thank you Verbal-d. Collabs add a flavor to everything. Everyone has their own style but with collabs those styles meld and something completely different and exciting comes out. Sometimes you might surprise yourself how good it is, or laugh at how bad it turns out.
Thats the value added. What ever comes out you tried and put in effort. No matter how good you are, if you do too much of the same for a long period of a time, in a short period of time, it kind of becomes spam, imo...
I know thats cheesy but im new at this kind of stuff and everything i do like this is an experience in it self.
I always tell musicians here: "DO COLLABS!"
Even if it does mean less rewards, you are building connections with others, adding variety to your content, keeping it interesting. "no man is an island"

Hi @verbal-d Thank you so much. Wow you have a way with words. I listened to ur song ^ 'Amnesia' and man that is incredible. I'll be honest, I don't personally listen to alot of Hip-Hop style music but I can recognise true talent when I hear it. It's epic. I will be keeping an eye out for your upcoming releases. New fan. You're so talented man. I have a friend @betweentwo and he's a Hip-hop artist. He shows me alot of what he listens to and also shares his music with me so that's where I experience the majority of that style of music.
