Steemit Open Mic week 96 "Mezi horami" Czech folk songsteemCreated with Sketch.

"Mezi horami" is a Czech folk song. Simple melody, simple lyrics.
What I like about this song is a possibility of playing with the dynamics. Then off course there is the challenge of transposing it to DADGAD open tuning.

Lyrics:

       Mezi horami

Mezi horami – lipka zelená,
mezi horami – lipka zelená,
zabili Janka, Janíčka, Janka
miesto jeleňa,
zabili Janka, Janíčka, Janka
miesto jeleňa.

Keď ho zabili, zamordovali,
keď ho zabili, zamordovali,
na jeho hrobě, na jeho hrobě
kříž postavili,
na jeho hrobě, na jeho hrobě
kříž postavili.

Ej křížu, křížu ukřižovaný,
ej křížu, křížu ukřižovaný,
zde leží Janík, Janíček, Janík,
zamordovaný,
zde leží Janík, Janíček, Janík,
zamordovaný.

Tu šla Anička plakat Janíčka,
tu šla Anička plakat Janíčka,
hned na hrob padla a viac něvstala
dobrá Anička,
hned na hrob padla a viac něvstala
dobrá Anička.

Wow!. Beautiful acoustic guitar and awesome fingerpicking technique. Nicely rendered sir.

Thank you, Papaudeme!

And the first and not the last I'd like to thank all the Open Mic crew for their wonderful job and support: @luzcypher @pfunk @soundlegion @krystle @meno @passion-ground @verbal-d @curie @isaria
If I forgot somebody it's not an intent but ignorance on my part.

Love your guitar playing. I can hear a Moorish influence in this folk song. Fantastic.

Yah, after spending quite a few years in India and other nearby countries I guess Moorish influences can creep up even in such a straight forward folk song... :))))

Nice, Shep!
Loved this, man!

This a very exciting rhythm, I love the way you play with passion!

Thank you, I tried to build it up.

It does! It is so folky, I am going to put it back on my playlist. Eventually I will only listen to open mic music!

Do you or will you do more traditional music like this? I really like it.

That's nice! I am honored!

And yes, I do quite a bit of traditional music. From many cultures. I am sure I will play some more in the future.

And a tree planter! Fine news, then I will follow you now for more such music and tree planting, mountain guiding stories and pictures :)

Very good, I'll do the same, looks like you have some interesting posts.

I'm a bot. I detect haiku.

Solid Haiku Shephard!

I appreciate that, I currently am doing a video everyday, but I do try out a lot of new stuff on steem, so it can vary quite a bit what you might find there.

Steem on! I am enjoying the music!

What sort of mountain guiding do you do?

I guide backpacking trips over mountain ranges mostly in Albania, Montenegro, India and Nepal. We mostly sleep in tents, carry everything ourselves. The lengths of the trips vary from 12 to 25 days. Off course some of it is getting there etc... I have groups of 4 - 25 people. The Asian destinations have a limit of 12 or 14 people. I work for a trekking company. They keep me quite busy. )))
