Stairway To Heaven - OpenMic

in #openmic8 years ago

Steemits first rendition of Stairway.. I just put strings on my classical (breaking them in).. thought I would be the first to play this Zepp classic from memory in one cut (shortened of course).

Sort:

very nice! was waiting on the vocals, but we do love guitar.

wonder how that would sound on a Norman acoustical guitar :)

I enjoy your snippet videos. You're a talented artist.

To enter Open Mic, you must say Open Mic Week 6 so we know it is you playing the song right now for Open Mic. Also, you need to add the link to the original contest post so i know you have entered.

I think you need to rethink your rules.. they are skewed towards those who speak (lots of people can't).. This is the second or third time you have asked me this. What is the point of your contest? To showcase members on this site who enjoy making music? Or advertising for your contest?
Its almost as redundant as having to say "This is a Steemit post..." before you type an article on Steemit. I love the concept - but think about disabilities - physical and otherwise - when designing "rules" especially on an anonymous block-chain based platform.. Whats next - "non competes"? Curie doesnt make me give them "a shout out" before they syndicate my writing. Consistency in the level of disclosure one is required to provide should be the same Steemit wide - without having to disclose any more information than absolutely necessarily. How do we know people aren't putting up their University essays? We don't. If people are putting up old essays - does it make the content less valuable? There has to be a level of trust on this platform or it doesn't work.

I see yoir point, but pfunk who is paying steem every week to fund the contest has made it clear he will not pay prize money unless he knows for sure that someone isn't gaming the contest by pulling videos from YouTube that is not in fact them playing. If you don't care about the prize money, then it makes no difference to me. If you do care about the prize money and cannot speak, then write open mic on a piece of paper before performing. Too many people have tried to game this contest already so trust is not working. Indicate somehow that you are really performing for this specific contest or you'll be disqualified from winning.
I think you play very well and keep mentioning the rules because I dont want to keep disqualifying you, but if you keep ignoring them i have no choice.
Also, you need to add the link to your post to the comments of the contest so I know you have entered and people can vote for you there too.

At some point we have to recognize some people as "genuine" or this place will become a prison. I didn't tag contest on this one because I wasn't intending on entering.. I just think the site can use more music - not everyone has a real for life musician in their house - so its great to hear people play "warts and all".
Going forward can we just assume that I am not entering and I am strickly putting up a few bars of something for non-competitive reason.
I will of course continue to support the contest (and your content is usually pretty good as well) :)

That's fine and thank you for supporting Open Mic.
