Steemit Openmic- Week 65-Original Song-Wind Swept Shore

in #openmic7 years ago (edited)

Edit : My openmic posts have not been showing up on @luzcypher 's feed so this week I am trying two seperate posts to see what happens.Peace

I grew up on the ocean but have not returned there for a long time.I dream about it often and I hope/believe that my soul will return there when I leave the body.

There is a perspective from which one could say that the soul, and in particular the human being, experiences itself as having seperated from the Source, but is really only a temporary form or wave that has never left the One.

I realize that people like songs with a hook and a chorus, but I don't always write in that way. This is one of those...

Thank you all for listening and of course many thanks to @meno @luzcypher @passion-ground @krystle @soundlegon @verbal-d @pfunk @jessamynorchard for all of your work and encouragement!

Wind Swept Shore

I am always dreaming
Of your wind swept shore
How I want to see it
Where I've been before

I know you are the only
Ending to the story

When my soul is taken
It's there I will awaken

Love is what I'm feeling
For the endless sea
Nothing but believing
What is yet to be

You will still be waiting
As the day is fading

Standing there together
Waves go on forever

Peace

this one pushed me over big. great piece my friend top knotch! that guitar work is awesome, mmm each time those low riff notes hit then your vocal just perfection feel like this could stand as a track recording.

Hey Bonnie thanks a lot...it's funny I never know which songs people are going to like. For some reason I had the idea that because this song has no hook or chorus, maybe it would not be popular...
Always affirming to hear positive feedback from you!
Be Well

WOW! That was awesome! The guitar playing, the singing, the words, it doesn't get much better than this!
Why are you not up on a big stage in front of a bunch of people doing that? You should be.

Thanks so much you make me feel good this morning! Be well and enjoy the holiday...peace

this is a really nice song and you played it nice as well

Thank you brother, I hope your pup got some nice treats under the tree...peace

All three of m furry friends got toys this year!

Alright! I knew that Santa would come through for you guys...peace

Excellent entry, onetrue!

Thanks man I honestly wasn't sure if people would connect with this one. Glad you like it!
Peace

Nice one Borther, truly ;)

Always really enjoy your guitar style. Are you in drop D here or do you use other open tunings...

I see you and I used similar lyrics at the beginning of our songs lol... not sure if that means we're both super awesome or not very imaginative hahaha j/k

Looking forward to your next one.

Years ago I used to mess around with a number of tunings. It's only recently that am I trying to get back into them. This one is Double drop D so both high and low E tuned down. After losing my girl Lily I pretty much put music away; started playing again when I came here to Steemit and found the openmic. This songwriters challenge is accelerating my getting back into guitar...also I need that new axe!
Peace

Ahh, thought so. Most of the tunes I've heard from you seemed to be in open tuning(s), or at least I thought so lol...mainly bc of the way you were playing chords and voicing them & how deep & rich the guitar sounded etc.

That's great to hear btw...that your getting back into music! Sound like you never left to me (although sometimes a break is needed at times).

You sound really good to me and always seem to have a distinctive flavour emanating.

And Steemit has that effect I guess.. no where else you can publish your rough song & possibly shitty performances show, them to a community of people you barely know and get such great critic and analysis. AND most importantly encouragement for your work.

Yeah because I am always tuned two steps down, even in standard tuning, it gives the guitar that deep sound...you could probably get a lot more low end from that Taylor if you tuned it down. Just depends on whether you like the lower sound for singing, etc.
So on this song even though I say double drop D, actually the top and bottom are both a C and the rest are two steps lower than standard E tuning.
Three more weeks three more songs, can we make it?

Ohhhhhh I see so the whole guitar is tuned down 2 whole steps! That's pretty low haha.

Produces a very lush sound tho!

And yes we will make it..."bc we can" ;)

I don't know...I have "lost and found" so many ideas already I feel like a Broken Mirror (OK, that was lame...)

so lame lol. I enjoyed it tho ;)

Please, next time make the 2nd tag openmicsongwriters so I can find your post. It did not show up again so I just went to your blog to grab the link.

Thanks

Hey @luzcypher. This time I tried two separate posts, so there is one that has openmicsongwriters as the second tag that I posted for the challenge, and this one is for the regular openmic
So did this one not show up for the openmic, or the other one not show for the challenge? Sorry for all of this hassle i am trying to figure out why my openmic posts do not get picked up...peace

Two separate posts seem to work the best. Thanks

Just to add...I have gone back and looked at all of my previous entries and made sure that my tags, titles, etc are identical. I am also still upvoting your post and posting a reply with a link, so at this point I am totally clueless as to what is going on..you did send a reply to both of these recent posts of mine for this week's openmic and openmicsongwriters, so I am just confused.peace

I see my posts in both of these...the openmic is 2 days ago and the openmicsongwriters is 3 days ago

Yeah ! love the pedal note intro and the drop tuning ! Your voice here does have that James Taylor vibe to it . I really liked this one ! thanks for sharing!

Hey you have taught me something today...I had to google "pedal note" to see what you meant. It turns out I have been doing this for a long long time. It's just something that my ear, body and consciousness is drawn to.
In some way I guess I would say that the "drone" note is like the ground/universal/implicate order, and the other notes are the explicate/particulate forms...for instance in India, where you have the Tambura as the ground for the Sitar...peace

That is one incredible way to put it @onetruebrother ! Terms are just means of identification and convenient when passing information from one to another but you clearly understood what a ''pedal note'' is in a way much deeper level :) . Peace brother!

Peace to you too... be well friend

Nice song! Love the guitar work and vocals. Following, thanks :)
