Thanks for being part of Steemit history in the making. It really is a joy to host and watching new users join in and make great rewards is rewarding in itself.
There are more new players every week for 5 weeks in a row now and the talent is inspiring. The Steemit music community does rock!
I could be mistaken but I believe that Steemit Open Mic was one of the first live music contests/shows on Steemit (Any Steemit pioneer can correct me on this) and probaby the longest running music contest on Steemit.
The music community here is growing and branching off into more and varied niches as music should. Most are meeting on Discord on the new Steemit Musician chat room that @jessamynorchard started. You can introduce yourself here, just don't post open mic entries there, and you can find the Steemit Open Mic thread here where you can post Open MIc entries there and chat with other people in the contest. Kind of like hanging out backstage and smoozing.
You will also find many other categories and new music genres and contests there. There's room for everything on Steemit.

Hey luzcypher how does discord work? I've been on it a couple of times and went to the introduce yourself 'here' link above but it says wumpus has no friends.. and 0 online... are there certain times that suit discussions on there?

I downloaded the app but still 0 people online, do you need to subscribe to a certain channel/chat? or maybe it's the wrong time of the day/night... btw, I appreciate what you're doing for the music community here! Going to rehearse, it's been a while, and play and open mic soon. Cheers
