Open mic Songwriters challenge week #2 - Lost and found

in #openmic7 years ago (edited)

Hello steemit!

This is my entry for this weeks openmic songwriters challenge,
I just finished it yesterday so I apologize for looking off camera so often haha,
I had to have the lyrics on screen so I wouldn't botch them as much!!!

Here are the Lyrics:

-Try again-

I'm tossing and turning on my bed
the day is gone and I've lost it once again
I feel the concern wash over me
It seems that I'll never get to see
beyond the horizon ever-present....

It's such a shame...
It's such a shame...
It's such a shame...

The seconds, the hours
that I have lost and found
revealing, deceiving
when no one else is around.

When morning comes I fall on my knees
the day that's gone,
the brand new the day that now begins
I look at my hands, try to make sure
I'll do some things different from before
I leave all this guilt behind and tell myself....

I'll try again
I'll try again
I'll try again ...

The seconds, the hours
that I have lost and found
revealing, deceiving
when no one else is around.

The seconds, the hours
that I have lost and found
uncover my weakness
now that I know, I can't run.

The end of the line
tomorrow has come
and maybe this time
I won't lose control...

The end of the line
tomorrow has come
It tears me apart...

The seconds, the hours
that I have lost and found....

This time around I added some reverb to the whole thing so it sounded a little better.

I must say, having to write and perform a brand new song in five days is a real challenge,
but it's one that I'm enjoying immensely!

Thank you @meno and @luzcypher for the motivation!
and everyone that commented and upvoted my first entry!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm usually a perfectionist, but having to do this so quickly is forcing me to let go and use the best take that I have,
it feels weird! but I like it hehe :P

I hope you enjoy it!!!!

P.S.
I've been thinking about doing more regular posts, about music, singing, some production stuff, some band stuff. some life stuff....

But I'd really love your input, what kind of posts would you guys like to see?
This is something I've been wanting to do for a long time and it feels like this is the best way to start!

Any ways, thank you for reading me, and for your eyeball and ear hole time :D

If you enjoyed, please remember to upvote and comment!

Till my next post!

Nice entry, Luis! NICE!

Hey!!! Thank you so much @passion-ground!!!!!
did you end up making the video you told me about?

Hey, Luis! I don't seem to recall that conversation... I did recently post an "unofficial" entry for week 62 open-mic... That's the only type of video I'd ever make... Do refresh my memory - I'm gettin' old, ya know! Ha! :-)

Yeah that's the one!
You told me you were gonna make an unofficial entry hehe
I'm gonna check it out!

you are amazing! You have such a nice voice, and personally, I love the theme of this song you've written! The whole story of it really strikes a chord with me.....but you've proven here that its the classic 99% procrastination, 1% genius adage! Brilliant creative output requires a LOT of seemingly wasted minutes to power it sometimes. We just have to learn to love watching time draining away....! haha

Hey @basilmarples!!!
Thank you sooo much! I'm really flattered!!!
It makes me really happy that it strikes a chord with you, that's mainly why I write music hehe :)
I agree completely with you, it mostly feels like wasted time, but in the end if you stick to it and finish, it can become something bigger, you just have to be willing to let it happen! :)

Thank you so much, this really encourages me!!

thats what we're here to do man! Share the love and support each other :) Also, on this topic, theres a great book called 'how to be idle' by Tom Hodgkinson. Its really funny but also quite inspiring.....I think you'd get a kick out of it!

oooh!, I'm gonna read it then!, sounds very interesting! Thanks for the suggestion
I'll be on the lookout for you're next song!! :)

Ive just posted it! hehe

what a great song and sound! the voice alone is so moving.

Thank you very much!!
I'm glad you like it!
:)

Thank you! :) I'm glad you like it!
