"God Save The Kinks"

Un abrazo, Feliz dia del Musico!!!

English Version

Hi hello friends, today again it is for me, a huge pleasure to be here with you, in this issue # 112 of @openmic, for this week I prepared a theme from my collection "Imperdibles", a section of my repertoire that had a forgotten, but that today revives thanks to a temazo.Trata about one of the most emblematic themes of rock history: "You Really Got Me", of the British band "The Kinks". Temazo for its punch, its contagious rhythm and its importance in the history of music. Composed by his leader Ray Davies, was published in August 1964 and released as a single on sale his first and same album that same year. The success was immediate. The powerful guitar riff with which the song started made the people of that time go totally crazy.

It was something new, forceful, revolutionary and with the anger of the young people of the time. It was the theme that catapulted them to fame and that served as one of the main passports of the British invasion to the rest of the world. It was also, for many, the seed that would lay the foundations of all subsequent Rock, call garage, glam, pub, punk power pop, heavy among other important subgenera of Rock music.

The lyrics of the song are about how fond a young man is towards a girl and his demonstration of love, but with a strong sound and without corners. As for the guitar solo, it can be said that there was a rumor that it had actually been composed by Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin), but it was denied. Page was in the recording of the album, but by then it was still 'only' a session guitarist. That same one was only created by Dave Davies, who at that time was only 17 years old. Legend has it that Davies got that great distortion during the song by putting a razor blade and pins in his amp to get that ripped sound..

A transcendental song that I recommend, with your eyes closed and your hands tied and if you still do not know it, do not worry, it's never too late, meanwhile and as always ...

"God Save The Kinks"

A hug, Happy day of the Musician!!!
