Steemit Open Mic Week 108 - Surfing With The Alien (Joe Satriani Cover)
This week i wanted to make a full cover again, this time i was lucky enough to find drums for one of my favorite guitar tracks ever, Satch's Surfing With The Alien. Usually i make the drums my self via midi and sound replacement, but with Andrew Lamarche drum cover i managed to play the whole tune adding the rest of the instruments.
Again i try to make my best emulating original performance, but i improvise a lot and play the whole thing my own way and tone. Satriani tend to use a lot of wah in this track, but i decided to go without it... Also i am pretty bad at playing bass but this track was fair easy...

Listening to your virtuosic playing made me go back to my teenage years when my best friend was inspired by Satriani so much that he taught himself guitar playing and despite being a saxophonist he entered Lithuanian Academy of Music as a guitarist. I'm definitelly forwarding your post to him. Maybe he too can enter Steemit Open Mic...
By the way, what is your process of notating Satriani's music? Is it all improvised or you listen to his recordings over and over in slow speed to pick up fragments of melodies?
Thanks my friend!, im glad you like it :) .... I usually use tab books to learn the tunes, and also some by ear and improvise many parts...
@Dreamrafa, great dexterity with your instrument you are one connected to the music. The speed and agility with which you move your fingers throughout the instrument is fantastic.
