Steemit Open Mic Week #83: Have You Ever Seen The Rain (Cover)

in #openmic6 years ago

My take on an old song by Creedence Clearwater Revival from the album Pendulum, released in 1970. Written by John Fogerty. The song is a reflection on the coming storm that was the state of Fogerty's band at the time. His brother Tom was about to quit, and everyone could sense that even though they were on top of the world musically, that the band was on its last legs. And the following year, the band did, indeed, break up.

"Have you ever seen the rain, coming down on a sunny day". This line speaks volumes. Sometimes, even when the sun is shining and things are looking up and moving in the right direction, all we can see is that it's raining. I've been feeling a lot of what this song has to say lately, so I thought I'd sing y'all my version.

HAVE YOU EVER SEEN THE RAIN
words and music by John Fogerty

Someone told me long ago
There's a calm before the storm
I know it's been comin' for some time
When it's over so they say
It'll rain a sunny day
I know shinin' down like water

I want to know
Have you ever seen the rain?
I want to know
Have you ever seen the rain
Comin' down on a sunny day?

Yesterday and days before
Sun is cold and rain is hard
I know been that way for all my time
'Til forever, on it goes
Through the circle, fast and slow,
I know it can't stop, I wonder

I want to know
Have you ever seen the rain?
I want to know
Have you ever seen the rain
Comin' down on a sunny day?

Good luck Dino, I made it this week as well :) sounding great, I honestly didn't know the original to compare, but will check as well. Great vocals and excellent guitar playing :)!

I love yours as well! Thank you, Pris. It means a lot to me that you enjoy this. I am a huge fan, you know!

I love this song. The emotions tied to it is what makes me love it so much. You have played it perfectly and I feel the same when listening to you sing and play it. Well done!

Thank you so much! I'm very happy you enjoyed this. And very nice to meet you!

It is nice to meet you as well! Enjoy the new day ^_^

And you as well.

Dino.. Your voice is classic. It is just, it's timeless. I just am speechless. This is one of my favorite songs of ALL time already, it's one of the first songs I ever learned to play on guitar, from my dad teaching me. We bond through CCR. It's kind of our thing. (And Def Leppard.. ha ha. I have the coolest dad in the world)
You nail those hight notes, and just all the way through you are a freight train barreling down the tracks of EMOTION. I have just watched 3 times now in a row. I know from experience that you cannot sing like THAT unless you are feeling it 100 percent.

Well. Apparently, I was not as speechless as I thought. Love ya, bud! ♥

Thank you, Serena. You can never go wrong with a Creedence song, but this one is special to me. I appreciate you taking the time, and I'm glad this connects for you.

:( this song has always generated me a certain nostalgia, thanks for bringing back good memories, your voice is really incredible, when you turn up the tone this is incredible. a little torn is good, I'll be attentive to your next videos, if you like you can go see my video, greetings

Thank you much, my friend! Much appreciated!

Ah yes, a classic CCR song! Watching you perform that was a bit like watching a good performer in a coffee shop, an intimate setting where acoustic performances are appreciated.

Hey, Amber! I'm very happy that you dig this. Means a lot to me!

Really great heartfelt rendition, Dino! Nice, man!

It's a song that means a lot to me, so it's easy to do it the right way. Thank you, brother!

Hey, Gibber! Glad you like this, bro! Much appreciated!

Thank YOU for having this open mic!

Great rendition of a great song, mate.
Lotsa passion you inject into it.

I couldn’t see the headstock of your guitar because the beer was obfuscating it. What guitar are you playing?

Hey, Nathan! Thanks! It's whiskey, actually...and the guitar is an Eastman.
