One Thing - Two Songs ("Monster Truck" and "Steemit Open Mic Week 54 - ABCD")

in #openmic7 years ago

What you are about to see was spontaneous and not prompted in any way by us parental units. Thing One was jamming on his new half sized guitar (thanks Grandpa Randy! @dillemma's father just sent it down from Alaska) and singing some pretty awesome improv lyrics. He kept going for long enough that @dillemma had time to start recording. I think the scat singing leading up to the "Monster Truck" line was pretty cool, but what really blew my mind was what followed. Again, I did not prompt him to say these words, "Hi Steemit, this is [REDACTED], for Open Mic Week 54, I have an original song called 'ABCD'." Thing One has obviously seen me record an Open Mic take or three dozen :)

Also I have to say that Thing Two is a pretty solid rhythm section! A glimpse into the future?!? I hope you all enjoy this as much as I did, but as that is impossible, I will just hope that you enjoy it even half as much as I did. My heart is about to explode. I can't handle how much I love those two Things.

And I love all of you! Cheers - Carl

Quite a performance! This is one I'll play over and over whenever I have a bad day. So adorable. Resteemed!

Glad you enjoyed it. I couldn't believe my ears when he said "Hi Steemit..." and did the whole Open Mic intro. Such a proud papa :)

And i love you too
Nice video

Got a couple little Mozarts there. Nice they're exposed to music and creativity. I was looking at your other posts about curating and SQL. Wow. First of all, I am too lazy to curate, and bad posts put me in a bad mood. Second, I am way too lazy to learn a new coding language in order to write code to help me sift through bad postings (my mind glazed over when you got into talking coding talk). Bravo to you. Whereabouts in Oregon? I have friends in Portland area. I visited the coastal area a couple summers ago. Might move there after my trip.

We are in Eugene/Springfield area, a couple hours south of Portland down I5 in the middle of the Willamette Valley. I tend to geek out on things for a few weeks, diving in full bore until I attain some level of proficiency then I am on to the next thing, with a new string in my bow :) I am actually already seeing the limitations in SQL for what I was wanting to do with it, I can see now that I need to do a deep dive into Python. That is probably next, along with figuring out how to set up some bots :) Thanks for the comment and maybe will see you around my neck of the woods! It is beautiful here! Cheers - Carl

Hey @luzcypher you may have caught it from the title saying "Week 54" but this is not an entry in this week's contest. Just a clip we shot of my kid playing guitar this week - totally unprompted he says that he is playing an original song for Open Mic Week 54! LOL

That was so cute, really good singing. :D

Aww love when you have surprise guests!

(I wrote this comments days ago and it didn't submit lol, oops)

Yeah Steemit has been gobbling lots of comments - I think Thing One is getting close to entering Open Mic officially, he keeps working on his intro :)
