Steemit Open Mic Week 55: La Nuit Je Mens (Alain Bashung)

in #open7 years ago (edited)

My first post on Steemit! (apart from the introduction one).

“La Nuit je Mens” from Alain Bashung.

It’s the kind of song that wasn’t a huge hit when it came out in France nearly 20 years ago, but that has now reached a cult status.

I kind of had forgotten about it, but when I heard it a few month ago, it literally pulled tears out of my eyes.

Since, then I am in love with this song!

The instrumentation is amazingly beautiful (Check youtube for the original song) and the Lyrics are out of this world with meanings hidden in every word. Because it is in French I embeded some English subtitles in the video.

The meaning of the lyrics have been quite debated on the French speaking web, as they can be understood in different beautiful ways.

Let me know in the comments what the song make you feel, and what story it inspires you!

Wow, Murphy... you sure laid down the law your first time out... Loved this!

That's a very kind comment @passion-ground, thx!
You have a nice sounding sink btw ;-)!
Oh, and it's Muphy (without the R) - Murphy's law doesn't apply to me !

Great to hear a French song and great entry, @muphy. At least, I have two French songs I know already. One is this and the other is La Vie En Rose. :)

It’s funny you say this, yesterday, I discovered that one of my students (I am a private tutor in sciences) had a beautiful singing voice, and she sung for me: ”La vie en rose”!

I sang it one time for a wedding of my good friend. I practiced saying the word "rose" in french so at least, I can pronounce it correctly. ecause we had a colleague who's a French and good thing, she didn't make it to the wedding. Hehe.

haha, nobody can say that they pronounce the word 'Rose' correctly, even the French! Sometimes it is roese, sometimes rooose, depending on the region in France ;-)

Oh! Hahaha! I was practicing the one that's too much nasal, like koose. Haha. Thanks for the info, though. :)
