From History: Today's Famous Birthdays

This is an effort to provide some information on Five selected famous personalities born on this day.

1. Orlando Bloom
Orlando Bloom is an British actor who has acted in some epic historical movies like The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, Pirates of the Caribbean, Troy etc.
Besides acting in movies, Bloom also acted in stage performances and broadway acting with West End's In Celebration and Romeo and Juliet broadway acting.
His other prominent movies apart from Lord of the Rings and Pirates of Caribbean include Kingdom of Heaven, The Good Doctor, Zulu, Romeo and Juliet, Digging for Fire, Romans, The Three Musketeers etc.
He has been nominated to Teen Choice Award many times winning it thrice.
He won Screen Actors Guild Award for Lord of the Rings: The Return of the king.
2. Wilhelm Wien
Wilhelm Wien was a German physicist who worked on theories about heat and electromagnetism known as Wien's Displacement Law.
Wien's Displacement Law is related to calculation of emission of a blackbody at any temperature from the emission at any other reference temperature.
He was awarded with Nobel Prize in Physics in 1911 for his work related to heat radiation.
In his remembrance, a constant is named after him as Wien's Constant.
3. Rakesh Sharma
Rakesh Sharma was an Indian Air Force pilot who was part of Soyuz T-11 which carried the Indian cosmonaut Salyut 7 space station as part of the Souviet Space shuttle Soyuz T-11.
Rakesh Sharma is regarded as the only Indian citizen to travel in space.
He was honoured with "Hero of Soviet Union" award, the highest distinction in the Soviet Union.
For his service as a cosmonaut and as a Indian Air Force pilot, Indian government honoured him with India highest peacetime gallantary award "Ashoka Chakra".
4. Stephen Hendry
Stephen Hendry is a Scottish former professional snooker player who dominated the snooker in 1990's by winning the world championship for a record 7 times.
He was also the world number one for 8 consecutive years from 1990 to 1998.
He is considered as one of the greatest players of snooker and is an all-time record holder for number of ranking titles won with a tally of 36 titles.
Apart from 7 world championships, Hendry also won 6 masters and 5 UK championships.
His other records include, the joint highest triple crowns(18), second most competitive century breaks(775), most century breaks compiled in a single match(7), most centuries compiled in a single tournament(16).
He currently works as a commentator for BBC and ITV.
He has been awarded with Member of the Order of the British Empire in 1993 and BBC Scotland Sportsperson of the Year in 1987 and 1996.
5. Liam Hemsworth
Liam Hemsworth is an Australian actor who is known for his role Gale Hawthorne in "The Hunger Games" film series.
His other movies include The Expendables 2, Love and Honor, Empire State, The Dressmaker, Independence Day: Resurgence.
For his 2010 movie The Last Song, Hemsworth received awards "Young Hollywood Breakthrough of the Year", "Teen Choice Awards Male Breakout".
It's also notable that he is engaged to actress Miley Cyrus.
He was also awarded with PETA's Sexiest Vegetarian Celebrity of 2016 since Hemsworth is a vegetarian.
