From History: Today's Famous Birthdays

1. Martin Luther King Jr
Martin Luther King Jr was an American Baptist minister and activist who was famous for his civil rights movement.
He was follower of Mahatma Gandhi and used to carry out his civil rights movements in a non violence way as used by Mahatma Gandhi and based on his Christian beliefs.
He took a lead in 1955 Montgomery bus boycott( a political and social protest campaign against the policy of racial segregation on the public transit system of Montgomery, Alabama.) and 1963 March on Washington.
It was another movement called as Poor People's Campaign which was planned in May-June 1968, but Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated on April 4th same year.
King was awarded with Nobel Peace Prize in 1964 for combating the racial inequality through nonviolent resistance.
He was awarded Presidential Medal of Freedom posthumously in 1977.
He was Time Person of the Year in 1963.
2. Paulina Vega
Paulina Vega is former Miss Colombia(2013) and Miss Universe(2014) who works as an actress, model and television personality.
She also holds record of first Miss Atlantico to win Miss Universe.
She was the winner among 88 Miss Universe contestants and was the second Colombian.
3. Edward Teller
Edward Teller was a Hungarian-American theoretical physicist who is known as the "Father of Hydrogen Bomb".
He has made many contributions to molecular physics, surface physics, nuclear physics and was part of Manhattan project in 1930's to develop first atomic bomb.
He was the winner of Albert Einstein Award in 1958, Enrico Fermi Award in 1962, the National Medal of Science in 1983, Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2003.
4. Mary Pierce
Mary Pierce is a French former tennis player and winner of 4 grand-slam titles.
She is also a winner of 18 WTA singles titles, 10 WTA doubles titles.
Since her mother was French and father American, Pierce possess citizenship of America, France along with her birth country Canada.
5. Kelly Kelly
Kelly Kelly is an American model, television star and retired professional wrestler who won WWE Diva championship in 2011 after making her debut in 2006.
She currently serves as an ambassador for WWE.
She was ranked 82nd on Maxim's list of Hot 100 in 2011 and 38 in 2012.

:) I was watching WWE today, and there was a tribute to Martin Luther King Jr. by all the members of WWE, that shows how people regard him. I somewhere read, there seems to be more than 300,000 people attended one of his rally, that should be enough to judge how popular he was.

He is indeed popular, even here in India.
He was a follower of Mahatma Gandhi from India, who is considered Father of Nation, because of his non violence movements to make India independent country from British.
As I write this, I wrote another blog involving Muhammad Ali, who is another follower of Martin Luther King Jr.
It's always good to co-relate the people and remember their achievements.
I didn't know you're in India! That's cool! I just read the article of Muhammad Ali. He's also a great inspiration to a lot of people!
That's true, Indians are sports loving people and one of the all time greats like Muhammad Ali, is obviously will be followed by those guys.
