Simon Sinek talks about the influential leaders like Steve Jobs and Marthin Luther King who had a vision and dream that made people want to be a part of it. People gravitated towards that vision because it resonated with their values and desires and they started believing and trusting in it.

Simon Sinek uses The Golden Circle to explain how influential leaders get people to believe in them and he discovered that they start with the reason why as opposed to the normal behavior of companies to explain what they do.

So in a normal write up journalistically you would start with the five W's: Who, Where/When, What, How and Why but taking cue from The Golden Circle we will start with Why of Ke Xu.

Why?

I want to connect the world together in a democratic, open and decentralized way. I want to reward attention with value. I want to build ONO because we think high quality content, as human wisdom condensed into human rights, is of considerable value and has a far-reaching impact on human beings. This value exists naturally and should not be affected by any outside party.

ONO protects and respects the variety and diversity of human value. Free, open, common governance and a diverse ecosystem is ONO's value. ONO is unlike a lot of other Chinese social networks which are excessively commercialized. We are different, not only in the way our product functions, but also in its social and structural design.

Ke Xu reason of wanting a free and unregulated platform where people can be the most awesome version of themselves without fear of censorship and will have a positive and safe environment.

In order to do that she wants the culture to be right and so the core values of Freedom and Equality is very important for those that will join the platform.

To achieve that vision she knows that the culture and community values are the most important aspect of the platform and she looked for like-minded individuals who share her purpose.

There will be 51 Super Partners and some Community Partners and Volunteers who will make sure that the culture of the platform is one of equality, fairness and committed to caring for one another.

To hear her talk more about her vision here is an interview done by @dallasrushing

.

How?

Ono was created to be one of the first Social DApp in the EOS.io platform. It will be an open sourced and decentralized manner to avoid centralization, restrictions, and freedom of speech.

Currently running in the EOS Testnet Jungle but will move to the Mainnet once it is active.

Ke Xu will be using the experience that she got when she created her first app, Era which currently has 10 million users and later on created CryptoDogs. With a strong technical and social background and using EOS as the blockchain bodes well for the platform.

What is Ono?

We are ONO, a free, decentralized social network dApp which protects and respects the variety and diversity of human social interaction and which will soon launch on the EOS platform.

There are a lot of Social Dapp that are springing up. You have Sola, Lit, Sphere and even Steem and what makes Ono unique is the principle of creating a social network that stands for freedom, equality and creating deep human connections on a decentralized platform.

Then there is the added feature of advertising revenue that goes to the user who creates high-quality content that drives attention. They can also opt out of that feature if they want to.

Users have the control over what they see, who sees their posts, later on, add third-party applications and games to make their Ono experience truly unique.

Ke Xu talks more about the plans for Ono starting at the 48-minute mark.

Who is Ke Xu?

She is the 23-year old CEO of Nome Tech who will be the first Social DApp in the EOS blockchain.

She graduated from Nanjing Foreign Languages School and then also studied in University of California, Riverside. She also studied at Coventry University in the UK.

While in the UK she had her first experience with Bitcoin and the Blockchain technology as she with a partner created a mining farm in China in 2013. Due to some of the restrictions imposed by the Chinese government, she sold her share of 10,000 BTC and invested her money to build her first Social App in 2014 called Era.

Era at its launch had a userbase of 1 million people in China and is currently estimated to have 10 million users.

Where and When?

Ke Xu's Ono app has already been launched in China last April 15 with over 50,000 volunteers, community partners and some early identified Super Partners who took a grueling 500 question test that covered Ono's whitepaper and core values. This is to ensure that they know and believe in the vision of Ono.

They looked for individuals who shared the belief and community-based spirit of caring and respect for their fellow men.

International release of the app is scheduled on the last week of May to 100,000 users around the globe.

So that is my take on this inspiring woman who resonates with my morals and beliefs and I want to see the vision come to fruition on Ono.

I want to believe that it will be a platform that will help make things better as we move towards an abundance generation powered by human interaction, kindness, and the blockchain technology.

I'm not going to be one of those who you've described as being upset or something over your excitement for ONO. Competition is good, and when it comes, it will motivate innovations in ways that weren't considered before.

However, so far, everything that's been talked about in your posts about ONO, in one form of another, has been used to describe STEEM. Decentralized, freedom, helping the masses, etc.

Yes, it sounds like they're taking some extra steps to get things off on the right footing, with a grueling survey and other measures to ensure those who are getting on the platform to start with line up with the principles of the platform. You know much more about all of the things they're doing than I.

The one thing I've been having a hard time getting around is the fact that this is happening in China. I'm not saying anything bad about Ke Xu. China has had their own freedom fighters over the years. I'm talking about the Chinese government, which, while adapting to some level of freedom and capitalism, is still very much a controlling, centralized communist State.

So, I don't know. The concepts are all there. The work behind it is good. It's just what does the Chinese government do with it if dissenting voices start emerging on it and/or mixing with philosophies or policies that are not in line with its mandates? How does ONO keep from being influenced by all of that?

I suppose we're all going to find out. :)

There are some similarities of its purpose of being decentralized, freedom, helping the people yet one early difference is communities is an integral part of it from the start.

When I heard that this was starting in China I had the same thoughts as the Chinese government has a habit of controlling and centralized.

However I want to believe since it will be built with Decentralization and freedom as core concepts that they would not be impeded by the state. That they will not be able to limit freedom of speech.

Okay, so they already limit free speech and a lot of other things. So, are you saying that somehow the international community will step in and not allow it? Or that the users of ONO will somehow not allow it? Again, I guess we'll find out. Seems to me though, that the best thing ONO can do is to make sure nothing is based in China once it's up and running. That might not be enough, even, but at least it won't be where they have sovereign control over it.

For the record, I have the same concerns about a government take over of STEEM or any other blockchain based cryptocurrency. It's just that it would take a little longer to do in the US, and would probably end up in the courts, rather than government troops sent in to confiscate it all.

We asked that with Ke and with nodes in different places and running in EOS it will limit the possibility of censorship by stifling the company, however the government can have internet service providers block access to the Ono app to the users which is why medium, YouTube, twitter and Facebook is not accessible there.
Hopefully the government will take a more progressive stance in this case.

Can anyone please answer if they know if the ONO App that is Android downloadable from the main website can be utilized in English? The main site has an 'EN' Drop-Down..
THANKS

The international release will be available for release on the 3rd or last week of May. By that time you will be able to join.

Ono sounds promising, especially the team's vision. I am curious how this will play out.

Me too FT and the builders are so positive and raring to go and try to change the world one user at a time.

Nice post. Still skeptical about ONO, though. Freedom and equality are mutually exclusive.

There are still some skepticism on Ono by a lot of people and reading the whitepaper and reading some of the thoughts of the builders might help.

Asking questions is always encouraged because we need to do our own due diligence.
