The setting may not have been ideal but your solution worked. The vignetting suits the mood of the Harry Potter universe which is a distortion of Victorian England. Fuzzing out the background with a sepia tone also works well to distract from anything that refutes the mood. Next time you can take him to the dustiest section of the library but I'd say it looks like a really nice job!
