And a fake one has a lot of upsides! I just tried to convince a friend of mine who has just moved to Germany and doesn't have a car that she should buy a fake one:

It will come in a nice smaller box, is already lit with lights, isn't a fire hazzard, doesn't need watering, is hypoallergenic, will be there for you next year, doesn't drop needles on your floor, and will save you finding an taking a real tree to the recycle place afterward. With all the decorations on the tree it looks as full and pretty as a real tree with the benefit of being able to move inconvenient branches to a better spot if they poke up in the middle of where you are putting an ornament. You can probably order one from Amazon and have it delivered to your house so you won't have problems hauling it home.
It turns out that her husband and oldest girl decided that they didn't like the idea of fake plastic and he told her that she could bring it home on the bus. The shop told her that the bus would let her on with it so she bought a 4' tree. The bus driver did put it in the storage under the bus but when she took it out he told her that it wasn't something that they do and please don't do it again. She was just glad that they didn't make her leave it on the curb. Neither my friend nor I have any idea how she is going to get it to recycling!

I suggest that when the time comes your friend take the tree to her backyard or her balcony, chop it up into small pieces and dispose of it in the biowaste bin or the general waste bin if there is no bin for biowaste. If she has a bin of her own none of this should be a problem. If she has to use a bin common to her building, she can put the remnants of the tree into durable bags and take them out at night and empty the bags into the bins. If she suspects that this would likely cause her trouble, she can put the remains of the tree in bags and take several trips to a forest somewhere and dump them there.

There is a forest nearby! It's probably more convenient than the recycle center. There is only a recycling bin for paper. Everything else must be taken to the recycle center. Recycling must be done there but in the suburban area where she lives they don't make it easy!

I appreciate your experience writing

For the time being, yes. ;)

If you mean the mess from tree, I think the plastic glitter is worse.

Miro's faith in FC is good to keep in mind next Wednesday if he shows up downstairs.

I suppose it is as the plastic stuff is lighter and capable of ending up in more places where it does not belong and may be hard to get out of.
