Okay! You'll be fine! Bangkok is quite safe for tourists.
Let me know which hotel or your are planing to stay. I may have my opinion on that topic.
I don't want you to stay too far from the center of town, for traveling purposes and convenient!
Do you have a plan to go to other provinces close to Bangkok?
