A simple spring water capture.

in #off-grid6 years ago (edited)

The following videos explain how I did a very simple low tech spring capture and holding tank system last June for drinking water purposes.

The system is still working as of today and I have only made minor changes to it which include modifying the overflow from the small holding tank (in the second video) to fill a fifty gallon barrel for utility water purposes, running a longer piece of irrigation tubing from the small holding tank into the 'yard' so that my drinking water is more accessible and burying the tanks and all the water lines under a thick layer of leaves and twigs to prevent them from freezing.

Amazingly it has all worked flawlessly and other than a small amount of silt accumulation after the initial capture it has remained a constant source of clean water for nearly the last nine months.

The audio gets muffled in the first video but then it clears up.
