Haha @annephlbrick! I love making those signs especially in vibrant colors!
When you do repair your panel make sure to use outdoor polyurethane or epoxy and although I recommend a roller or paint brush in the original article I think the plastic putty knife works better because it does not put air bubbles in the polyurethane.

YES for sure I would get exterior polyurethane..!! Thanks for the tip on the air bubbles....
The vibrant color a definite great touch to the signs. Perfect I say.
