OCD&B Updates

OCD is bringing back language curation!

We detect where there is a lack of curation and demand depending on the size of the community and language and are trying our best to cover those with our curation. An important factor here is that the curators need to be trusted so no abuse can occur and we are lucky to have onboarded some very experienced, long-time Steemian curators that will be perfect for the roles! Announcement of the curators will happen after the language curation starts off!

The languages we are going to start curating soon, each in their own compilation posts will be:

Spanish, Korean and Chinese.

Future additions we are looking at: Japanese.

These decisions are made based on lack of curation support, activity of the community and size. If you are an experienced Japanese curator and find that the support was cut short when @steemit-jp lost their voting power over half a year ago and would like to start curating again feel free to drop by in our discord and get in contact with us!

Thanks to our amazing curation advisor, @justineh, OCDB is currently collaborating with a bunch of curation communities and lending them some voting power for their top curated posts of the day/week. This is something we are doing temporary as our roster of onboarded content creators grows through our onboarding attempts! If you believe you could use some assistance in this regard for your community/curation project, please contact us in our Discord

At the same time we have evaluated the situation with the whitelist and will be following all active accounts on the whitelist and with approximately half of the remaining vp curating them manually. We have some requirements in the backend not just for how we curate them but also if we are going to be following them in #newsteem, these will remain semi-hidden as we don't want people to do minimal amount to "fit in" and mainly curate genuine authors that aren't changing their ways just because of our influence. We hope to maintain this as secret as possible but if others feel something unjust is happening we are open to discussing the reasons with some respected community members or trusted Steemians who will keep our requirements a secret but can verify it is nothing personally biased. We reserve the right to deny certain users to come to us as an impartial and trusted party regarding this, though. Furthermore the whitelist was always meant as a bonus and @ocdb was always a side-project of @ocd, being followed by the @ocdb account should be viewed similarly. Having said that we will not be picking favorites based on connections or relationships and it will remain strictly professional and based on each individual alone.

OCD's tipping pool is growing! While we eagerly await for steemtipper to be ready for increased efficiency in onboarding the pool is growing daily and it will be important to have some weight behind the tips when the price of Steem is this low. We had 551 Steem ready for this through the ocdbfund account and it has by now grown to the size of 1128.6 Steem! A lot of Steem waiting to be tipped onto OC creators on Reddit and Twitter with our onboarding advisor, @theycallmedan, leading the pack! :)

The efficiency of the tipping pool and bot will be evaluated when it is being used for some time, if we see great effects from it we have plans to also make a proposal for the SPS to increase the daily funding and at the same reduce the amount we take from delegators to @ocdb for tipping. If it doesn't seem efficient at all and barely helps to raise interest in Steem we will gradually reduce it from the delegator fee and either burn or send the steem to the DAO if they remain unused.

OCD will continue their "Reddit sharing" posts where OC authors are encouraged to share their OC posts on the sticky thread on our subreddit and the "sharing is caring" posts where most of the post rewards are shared among the authors of the posts that get shared on Reddit and Twitter and the Steemians doing the sharing get a share of the rewards too.

I dare you to count how many times I used the word 'share' in that sentence.

Other than that we will be posting the daily compilations along with the Venezuela compilation and soon the language compilations, bear in mind though that only the english posts from the normal ocd compilations have a chance to be followed by the @ocdb account for continued manual curation!

OCD will also up our sharing game on other social media platforms to spread the word of Steem and the amazing posts we curate here daily! Feel free to follow our accounts there! :)
