Celtic mask

Hello everyone.

Today is Halloween.

Well.

Millions of children around the world go from house to house reciting the classic phrase of trick-or-treat?

Halloween is a celebration of Celtic origin, some scholars have attributed this macabre recurrence to a Roman origin.

The most well-established thesis is that of the feast of Samhain, first Gaelic and then Celtic.
In ancient Irish it should mean the end of summer.

Let's move on to my watercolor painting.

The subject is a pagan mask with a two-horned Celtic helmet.
I painted two spirited eyes at the edge of the grotesque, with my mouth wide open.

Behind the mask opens a curtain on a night with half a moon.

I hope you like it.

Ciao a tutti.

Oggi è la ricorrenza di Halloween.

Bene.

Milioni di bambini di tutto il mondo vanno di casa in casa recitando la classica frase di dolcetto o scherzetto?

Halloween è una festa di origine celtica, alcuni studiosi hanno attribuito a questa macabra ricorrenza una origine romana.

La tesi più consolidata è quella della festa di Samhain, prima Gaelica e poi Celtica.
In lingua irlandese antica dovrebbe significare la fine dell'estate.

Passiamo al mio dipinto ad acquarello.

Il soggetto è una maschera pagana con un elmo celtico a due corna.
Ho dipinto due occhi spiritati al limite del grottesco, con la bocca spalancata.

Dietro la maschera si apre un tendaggio su un notturno con mezza luna.

Spero che vi piaccia.
