New exchange listing
Bytes can now be traded on Cryptofacil, an exchange partner of Bittrex in Latin America and the Caribbean. All trades until March 31 are free!
Bittrex announced this partnership last year, but trading has only recently gone live.
Byteduino 0.2.0 and 0.2.2 released
Both 0.2.0 and 0.2.2 have been released since we last covered the project in the newsletter.
A unit can be composed by the microcontroller itself without requiring any pairing, which allows two new exciting features:
- sending a payment to an Obyte address
- posting a datafeed that can then be used as a condition in a smart-contract
Reminder - Byteduino is a light implementation of Obyte for two Arduino boards. It requires very little memory, working even on devices with 40 KB of memory.
Future project structure
Some members of the team met up in Prague last week to work on plans for how the Obyte project will be structured in the future after the upcoming establishment of the Foundation. The proposals have been relayed to the team members that were not in attendance. We will involve the community in the discussion soon; we are not ready to just yet as the proposals are still being discussed.
Utopian Colony
Obyte is very fortunate to have been assisted by the Utopian project a lot during the past year, and they are running a fundraiser to help continue building their vision. In their own words:
"Open source runs the world, but is mostly nurtured by volunteer programmers. What would happen if contributing to open source wasn’t limited to developers, and innovation was funded collaboratively? Utopian Colony is a crowdsourcing platform that will empower open source innovation beyond the code. It is the culmination of a year operating a successful POC on the Steem blockchain. Open to all digital professionals with a skill to contribute, Utopian Colony will facilitate a decentralized multi-currency economy."
Please consider supporting them on Indiegogo or Fundition.
Foundation papers submitted
The paperwork for the Obyte Foundation was submitted last week to the authorities in Lichtenstein. We are currently waiting for them to register it. This took much longer to do than expected, and we are pleased to finally have them submitted.
New textcoin video
Our textcoin page now has a 34-second video which explains the two simple steps to claim textcoins.
Reminder - textcoins let you send Bytes and Blackbytes -- in fact, any token on the Obyte platform, including ones you have created -- to people even if you do not know their wallet address. Impossible with Bitcoin or Monero, but very much possible and working today with Obyte.
Developer?
Consider Obyte. It’s written in Node.js and is developer friendly

Why don't you have Steem Power? A blockchain, coin, wallet, and exchange that is supposedly being used by thousands of Steemit users should have more SP and followers.
