Benefits of cactus

Because of its high content of chemical compounds and nutrients used in many medical and pharmaceutical treatments and uses, the Pharaohs used juice to treat dysmenorrhea, to soften the intestines, to treat wounds, burns and sores, including eye ulcers . The benefits of cactus are as follows: [5]

  • Promotes the immune system because it contains antioxidant and inflammatory compounds. It also stimulates the immune system to produce white blood cells that play an important role in the secretion of prostaglandin in the blood, a high-effective anti-inflammatory substance. One of the benefits of cactus for the immune system is that it protects the body from the imbalance of free radicals and antioxidants, known as oxidative stress; because it contains rare compounds called Petalines, and is a rich source.

  • Promotes the nervous system because it contains minerals and vitamins that promote hormonal balance, which enhances and balances the functions of the nervous system.

  • Blood pressure is regulated by its low content of salts, especially sodium and potassium.

  • Protects the blood vessels from inflammation, and also treats the inflamed blood vessels, where the places of inflammation are appropriate places for the accumulation and hardening of fat, and cactus in turn contains cholesterol compounds, and polyphenols, and sugary proteins act as an antioxidant that reduces inflammation of the walls of blood vessels and protects.

  • Lowers cholesterol levels and triglycerides in the blood; because of its fiber content and sterols, which in turn interact with the bile in the small intestine, reducing the triglycerides in the blood and lowering the level of cholesterol in the blood.

  • Maintains the liver and promotes its functions. It contains antioxidant flavonoids, which fight free radicals and prevent them from affecting the liver and its functions. It also supports the process of absorbing fat and relieves the burden.

  • Treats rheumatism, arthritis and associated pain.

  • Lowers blood sugar levels because of low carbohydrate content, containing dietary fiber and pectin, which in turn reduces the absorption of sugar in the stomach and intestines, and thus reduce blood sugar levels, and fiber gives a sense of fullness, which reduces the proportion of food consumed.

  • Regulate and enhance colon function because it contains insoluble dietary fiber, which in turn facilitates the movement of food and passes through the intestines, and prevents the occurrence of any digestive disorder especially in the colon .

  • The stomach ulcer is treated because it contains gum in high quantities, which in turn helps to balance the acidity of the stomach, and research has proved the ability of cacti to treat stomach ulcers and reduce inflammation.

  • Helps to lose weight indirectly, because it contains unfinished dietary fiber, which gives a sense of satiety, and reduce the amount of food consumed.

  • Strengthens hair and supports its growth; because it contains amino acids , proteins, iron, many nutrients, and vitamins useful for hair. It enhances the sexual ability of males because it contains many amino acids, nutrients, vitamins and minerals that improve blood circulation and relax the muscles surrounding the blood vessels that reach the penis. This increases the blood vessels inside the penis and increases the blood flow, Penis and strengthen its sexual ability.

  • It treats the symptoms of alcoholism, such as headache, nausea, dry mouth , and loss of appetite. Because it contains chemical compounds produced by a specific protein produced by the liver after alcohol metabolism occurs in the liver, these compounds relieve the symptoms mentioned above.
