Heron purple in action.jpg

Here we have a Purple Heron that caught a frog for breakfast.

A happy day to all!
The day started extremely fogged up and I just knew that the fog would soon clear up to reveal a beautiful and clear day.
We are slowly emerging from winter here in South Africa and spring season is around the corner.
Looking forward to the new life in Spring season.
Note that this photo is my own and I have used it in social media before.

My apologies as the section above is meant for #ntopaz and here below is our standard @papilloncharity blog.

Today I will show you an amazing, but expected weather change in the day. Fortunately we also experienced these foggy mornings at our previous residence on the apple farm across the mountain.
Let's have a look at the day.

See the fog? It looked like this when we left to go to our church!

As I said, it soon cleared up. After the service we went to the Lourensford Wine Estate.

So cute, as I saw a little girl playing at a pond!

Here's the king of the sunbirds on a red Protea Pin Cushion. This is a Malachite Sunbird!

An Egyptian goose and her 9 babies. We saw this 5 weeks ago!

IMG_9068.JPG

Here's the same Egyptian goose, but now there were only 7 babies. This was 2 weeks ago.

IMG_2689.JPG

And here's the same Egyptian goose today and there are only 3 babies left!

IMG_2694.JPG

They certainly look like 3 little survivors to me, but we know that she will end up with only one or maybe two.

This was the sight when we arrived back at home.

We hope that you have enjoyed the photos and thank you for the visit to a post by @papilloncharity.

Food chain in nature, survival of the fittest!

Humans were like this having 13 children and lucky if 4 made it to adult hood, with more knowledge more survive, is it good or is it bad!

Have a wonderful new week Stephen and thanks for sharing awesome foggy morning photography along with animal kingdom.

Good morning Lady Joan.
Your comment here is so true and sadly "intelligent and emotional" mankind is so different from nature.
We go to extraordiny lengths to protect our own weak and spend billions on research to strengthen the weak and then we go and breed like rabbits?

Where is the sense in the explosive growth of populations?
Everyone is saved, everyone needs more food and the planet is groaning under the extra burdens.
At the rate that we are going, we will soon need 3 more planets.

Surely a humanistic way must be found to control population growth?
How can a person have 13, or 23 kids today?
What has happened to our responsibility?

Blessings!

Yup, watching the news the other day a young woman (looked to be under 30 years old), 'I have 7 children on Child Grants, not enough money given by government (around R3k/month).'

Quick answer, stop breeding! Taxed cannot keep up with being taxed to pay for those being irresponsible!

Well there you have it Lady Joan.
The fad is that to get money "mahala" you must have more children to get more money.
So sad for the children.
Blessings!

What a nasty bird. I would prefer the frog to survive.

Ha! I think we would all like the frog to survive my friend.
I also have a picture somewhere of him with a small snake.
The normal response by us would be to become angry when they eat the little things, but I have learnt that it is nature's way of feeding all of her animals.
Blessings!

Poor frog!!! :( But overall it looks like a great day, indeed :)

Poor frog and poor little goose babies (today's post) my friend.
Nature feeds her own.
Glad you liked the post and thank you for the kind visit.

What great shots the color of that sunbird really caught my eye 👁

Thank you JJ, I love the Malachites and they are really glorious birds.
The green goes a deep blue when they sit in a different position in the sun.
Blessings!

Most welcome my friend that’s so cool how the color changes depending on the sun ☀️
Have a great day

Great post filled with beautiful pictures. And that sunset at the end, stunning!

Thank you my friend.
Glad that you liked the post.

omg, I love Africa. wild beauties everywhere

Africa is indeed a huge continent filled with wildlife my friend.
Blessings!

Great pics of the birds and sunset, Stephen. Beautiful Heron and shot of the songbird is awesome.
I felt bad for the frog and mother goose losing so many of her babies.

Thank you Lady Jo and mother nature has to feed her residents.
I have to admit here that at times I also feel disturbed, but then reality sets in.
Blessings!

African nature is so beautiful!!
I have never seen such a great view!

Thank you and glad that you liked the post my friend.
We are very fortunate to have such abundant wildlife here.
Blessings!
