This a character I got commissioned to draw a long time ago, the client wanted a middle eastern grandpa reading a story to his grandchildren, so after a bit of research with some references here and there I came up with this fella, the client wasn't satisfied because he wanted a modern looking grandpa with western clothing and in a more cartoonish style...I told him he hadn't mentioned those particular parts, even when I say to clients to give me a complete written description of what they want and reference material if possible...but anyway, I asked him to raise a bit the budget since this was taking more effort than what I originally quoted for...he reluctantly agreed and I suspect he was angry cause he never left a comment or review after delivering the other drawing...

In my opinion this is very beautiful, of course maybe he had an idea of what he wanted but he wanted to leave it to your preference but in the end it was not like maybe he had imagined it, and I really think it is a mistake of the client to not have given the explanation exact what he wanted hehehe, greetings.

Understandably no one likes cost blowout but with a lot of clients/consumers I don't think they realise how much work goes into artwork.
Yeah I often find people requesting prime quality artworks with ridiculously low budgets and when I warn them what they will get for that price...

Well I like him. This is why I don't like commission work much. I take it when the person knows my styles and says I'd like a pug or a certain type of bird, but you decide colours and just do it in your style. That's a good client. If someone wants three branches each with four flowers in this exact shade, that's not the client for me :)
