Pencil Drawing Contest: PRIZE WINNER ANNOUNCEMENT

Hello Artists,

First of all, I would love to thank all the artists who participated in the Pencil Drawing Contest sponsored by @nTopaz. I appreciate the precious time, passion and effort you put into your art for the contest. I’m so proud of you all for contributing great art and great value on the Steem blockchain and on @nTopaz - the ultimate blockchain community for artists. It’s my honor to be here with you all, sharing and learning from each other.

After 1 week, there were 105 artworks posted in this contest on nTOPAZ platform, and $119 SBD nTOPAZ’s rewards were generated.

Curating wasn’t easy as there were so many amazing artworks and talented artists. Even though it’s difficult to judge something that can be very subjective, we have to make a judgement on the artwork as curators, however the use of a framework and the individual elements can help to guide the process.
We selected the prize winners for this drawing contest based on these judging criterias:

1. Originality: The subject matter of the artwork, recreation of others creations are frowned upon in the art community and plagiarism is definitely not tolerated. Where artists are reposting their previous works, it may reduce their position in the rankings.
2. Composition: The way the subject matter is framed, the placing of the other elements as well as the prospective shown.
3. Techniques, degree of difficulty: how the artist manages the lines, shade, definition and use of the art medium.
4. Drawing anatomy: the fundamental skill, comes from the study and the talent of the artist. Their ability to capture accurately the whole body structure and also in every detail like hands, fingers … in living subjects.
5. Creativity: the idea and concept being communicated through the artwork.
6. Overall impression: the feeling and impression from the artwork as a whole.

Under the skillful hand and free mind of the artist @thermoplastic, Ali Baba looks like an interesting creation with many beautiful eyes and different structure of nose.

A boatman by @cheongpyeongyull

This drawing with traditional impression has a interesting concept that the boat man want payment in Steem. His drawing lines look simple but very accurate and effective, only master of drawing techniques and anatomy can achieve.

It’s great that artist @skrytorio44 shows his personal view of Marxism though his art so we can understand more. He handles the complex composition with multiple characters so well. Also good skill at capturing anatomy and shading.
