(CO) Fungi neither plants nor animals - STEP BY STEP
Fungi are not animals, but form a kingdom of their own with more than 100,000 species such as mushrooms, mold and yeast.
Unlike plants, fungi need to consume organic food to grow and reproduce. Plants have a green pigment called chlorophyll that allows them to produce their own food from the energy of the sun, but fungi do not have chlorophyll, so they get their food from plants and animals.
My attention is drawn to the reproduction of fungi that release tiny spores (groups of cells) in the air. Some, like mushrooms and mushrooms, have large bodies to help the spores travel farther. Others develop long stems, such as laces, with spore capsules at the tip.
If the spores fall in the right place, nance a new fungus.
