Collage Contest, sponsored by nTopaz.
I am very happy to announce another contest sponsored by @ntopaz and this time is a Collage contest.
As a collage artist myself i am very excited to see the submissions and present collage as a medium to nTopaz community. Collage is a derivative kind of artwork and an easy medium to express out creativity and ideas, feel free to create and have fun.
The contest will start at Monday 25 March and finish at Tuesday 9 April 12am Korean Standard Time.
Guidelines.
To make the contest more interesting we will accept 3 different kind of submissions, i will also give examples so you can understand better the different concepts.
Handcut collage. It is the most popular form, cut and pasted on a paper and using images from various sources. Magazine clippings, prints, photographs etc, it can be a mosaic like creation or could be a scene with a narrative and a message.
Digital collage. Another popular form these days, as we live at the age of Internet and images are everywhere. Through the use of photoshop and other programs we can digitally cut photos and create with ease complicated compositions.
Assemblage collage. This is a little tricky but i believe the example will make you understand better. Basically is a composition of objects arranged in an artistic way and usually they are discarded things which are becoming valuable again through art. I see a lot of good artists practicing this medium with amazing results and it will be waste not to given the chance to take part in the contest.
Examples
I chose three artists from the steem blockchain who i really admire and their works fit the guidelines and the spirit of the contest and also hope they will honor us with their artworks in the future.
- As an example for the handcut collage i would like to present @elenarcangeliart's artwork, titled Antilope.A very impressive artwork in which the artist used small pieces of magazines to make the form, give colour and volume. It is a process that looks a lot like building the artwork piece by piece the same way as if it was a mosaic. She has included also backstage photos to see and get inspired.
- For the digital collage i chose @satorid and his artwork titled I use to dream in parables. He is one of my favourite digital collage artists and his style and mindset are very close to mine. Also he is a poet and this helps me to point how strong is the relationship between collage and poetry. A collage artist is a great thinker more than anything and the tools are rather unimportant as most of the artistic process takes part in the world of imagination.
- Lastly for the assemblage collage i chose @papersmell and his amazing Cyborg Dinosaur. I am sure he spend countless of hours in this creation but the result is more than impressive. I cannot understand most of the items he used but i am sure many of them are just discarded stuff. This is an important aspect of the collage medium as it help us change our way of seeing the world. A discarded thing we found in our trash or at the road can be brought back to life and find value through art and passion. It makes you think, maybe everything has a hidden value however insignificant and as a part of a greater whole can shine again.
