Nearly deported!

in #norway6 years ago

Just a quick little story of what happened yesterday :)

Listen to your gut feelings. I had a great morning at work and went to the office to go get new magazines and decided to go home to relax and maybe even have a long weekend away from Oslo.
I saw my mate was on the street that the office is on, and 3 guys were talking to him. They were obviously plain clothed police so I didnt even greet him and carried on walking thinking they were doing searches.
I walked up to the office and opened the door and saw it was completely packed and chaos and so I sat outside to wait for it to calm down.

Big Mistake

One of them came up to me and asked if I speak Norwiegen, and I said English. He said to me he was from immigration police.
-"Do you have any ID on you?" he asked
-"No I dont sorry" I replied. (I never carry any ID with me and in fact have sometimes told them on various occasions in various country's that I had been robbed a couple of days before whilst sleeping and they took everything. I refuse to connect my being to their man made laws and statutes and actually every time I am good to go, with no problems after they realize that im not taking part)

How long have you been in Norway?
-"Two winters" I said, but I travel to different countrys often.

I didnt know about the 3 month rule that you have to leave the country and said I went to Sweden to see a friend at Christmas and theres also a rule that you must be looking for a job

After finding me on the system, they said to me that my friend should look after my dogs. I thought we were going to the station over something or other, when they said to me:

"Your going back to England within a couple of hours"

I laughed and asked if they were joking and they certainly wernt, their mood changed from friendly to "we are the boss" and fair enough, no big deal I said aslong as im not paying for it.
I said that I must go into the office where my mate now was and to give him all my things and give back all my magazines. It was funny there is always some kind of commotion and as I walked in everybody greeted me, and I replied in a loud voice "Im getting deported!" I gave my things to Cronus and told him id be back in a week and to look after my dogs.
He knows how it is with the madness I have here in Norway with sudden huge changes just sprouting from nothing.
I gave all the magazines back and collected the money I had there and gave that to Cronus too.

The office is great , there is a rule that a policeman is never allowed to enter and so one of the workers went out to speak with them. He came back in saying that they wanted a word and I had to go out again..
In the UK "A word" means a pair of handcuffs and so that was it I was ready to go.

I went back outside and they had the friendly mode back on by their body language.
They said to me - "Your in the Grey Zone"..

"Nice" - I said in my mind.

They asked me again if I was here looking for a job, and I said " Well I have a Job" and pointed to the magazine office. They then said " Are you here in Norway looking for a Job?" and all 3 of then stood nodding their heads.

" Ah yes, I forgot , I am looking for a job your right! This is just to pay my way until I find a real job!"
They then told me I should go every 3 months to Sweden for shopping and then keep the receipts and that way ill have no problems in the future.
Literally the whole scenario went from "your coming with us" to them telling me what to do so I can stay a freeman without registering myself.
Then they walked off.

Norway. The country with the most friendly and confusing policeman in the world!

Off to bed now UTC time and up early to change paper into STEEM! magical world we live in :)

Awesome! I'll trust your fortunetelling skills more than @haejin's TAs - maybe I should buy some more Steem too, now that I know it will go up! 🙏
Oh wait... you are the guy who is able to make things disappear, right? Well... maybe I should also sleep over it... 🤔😀

So, did you get some Steem before the price jumped? 😂

Oh, wise oracle! I should have listened to your words of wisdom! 😀
On the other hand, we are only at $2 - which does look like a breakout at the chart, but only is, when BTC will go up too. So we may go down again soon.
I will only start to celebrate, when we make it up to $4 quickly with a big volume behind - until then, I'll sit on my hands...

Worth buying to lease it out, then when you get the sp back its worth more (hopefully lol)

Best not say the "h" word mate 😂

So, in theory they should have sent you back to the UK, on taxpayers money, and probably with a police man escorting you to the flight and maybe even on the flight, the costs for deporting people is really high. While waiting for the flight they would have had to put you imprison you, to ensure you wouldn't just run away - prison cells is a limited resource, and it's costly to keep people in jail.

Once you would have been back in the UK, you would be a free man, and you could (if you still have a passport - and the police officers have no reason to believe anything else) return to Norway without any practical problems and even completely legally - and considering that your friend would just take temporary care of your dogs during your absence, it's extremely probable that you would come back.

Again, just like previous time, I think the police officers were discussing a bit ... "is it really worth wasting so much taxpayers money on nothing?" ... "Nah ... this is totally pointless, let him be".

Of course, situation would have been quite different if you wouldn't have had the right to immediately return to Norway.

Yeh i guess that they weighed up the amount of work, cost and paperwork and thought better of it. I find it terribly sad that our luck in life all depends on the country we were born in

Paperwork yeah, I forgot about that one. Perhaps in some jurisdictions the police officers would get a bonus depending on how many aliens they deport or how many criminals they arrest. In other jurisdictions the police officers would have expected to get a small bribe for letting you be. In Norway, the police officers would consider that they would have to spend several hours of their personal work time doing paperwork and transporting you to a prison cell. I bet the thinking also goes a bit like ... is this the reason why I chose to become a police officer? When I get old and look back on my life - is this something I will be proud of doing?. Hell no, deporting you is just plain silliness, that's why you didn't get deported.

Or, maybe ... just maybe (but I hope not) ... this man looks happy that he's getting deported. A trip home to his relatives, a vacation totally free of charge, probably it will be nice for him. We can't be that nice with a criminal, can we? No way, let him stay here in Oslo freezing!

I should get hold of the recorded interview from a trainee policeman who came in the office last week from the police academy, he asked if he could interview me anomously lol.. he got a good run for his money ..
the police in england began to let us go for hash and weed after some years because if they arrested me with say a gram on me then that would entale over half a days paper work lol :)
differnet cultures are madness, i mean the police culture!

edit , forgot the last bit! i was actually happy to get deported and yeh i think thats also why lol. plus they thought "poor guy claiming no benifits, has resorted in a last hope of selling the renound junkie magerzine to live in this expensive country" hahahhahahha

Haha. Wtf..thats funny. The police are often pretty ok here. UK is pretty decent too aint it? Not like the us. "Get down on the floor boy! Stfu motherfucker!!"

Haha yeh it was fcuking madness scenario at 9am in the morning! hahah if I wasnt white they have proberly started beating me in UK back in the day.. really everyone that come here says the same thing about the police, that they are just a huge culture shock for foreign people :)

its funny a did the same here i as u got told to do. or almost a had to do a flog pole run in to usa to get my visa approved. go to the border do a u-turn and then am legal here.
and the norwagian cops are the best.

where were you born? I actually realised that i dont even have to go to sweden, i just need a cash receipt From Sweden :)

in norway. it seems like visa Rules are the same in many countries or same principle

I came to think about another crazy situation, with a person I know. He has US citizenship, but he is Russian, he claims he has the right for a Russian citizenship, but the bureaucrats back in Russia disagrees - so now he has the right to stay in Russia for up to 180 days a year or something like that, and he has the right to stay in Estonia for 180 days a year or something like that ... so he has an apartment in Tallinn and one in St.Petersburg and he's travelling forth and back with his family.

He's the most racist person I've ever met ... Estonians aren't worth a shit to him!

I was working from China for two months, one was only allowed to stay for one month in a row, but it was trivial to get dual-entry tourist visas. I guess the point is to make it easy to visit Hong Kong or Macau or even the North Korea while doing a trip to China.

We didn't plan very much, the original plan was to stay only for one month, I think we even had return tickets to St.Petersburg (where my wife is from). At that point she had only Russian citizenship, meaning that the places she could go without a visa didn't match the places I could go without a visa. So ... we went back to St.Petersburg and stayed with her parents for some days before travelling back to Beijing. Long journey for nothing. My wife all of a sudden realized she was sick and tired of Chinese cuisine when we had arrived back to Beijing and it was time to eat.

We had some other crazy situations before Norway got members of the Schengen. My wifes passport was simply full of visas, so she got a new passport, and the old passport was stamped, in russian language: "this passport is no longer valid". Was the visas in the old passport still valid? We were driving from St.Petersburg to Oslo, I had a single-entry visa for Russia, so we could have ended up in a very awkward situation on the Finnish border - me not being allowed to return and she not being allowed to continue. I recon the probability was very, very low for such a thing to happen, but my wife just didn't want to take the chance. We drove around Finland and Sweden. Now, that's a looooong journey! We had one accident in Lapland, we were driving with summer tires and were far too sleepy to notice that there was ice on the road - so the road was turning but the car was going straight. Luckily it was just bogs, so the car just got some scratches, rescue service pulled us up back on the road and we could continue our journey.

Once we had to pass Sweden, but my wife didn't have a valid transit visa. My vacation was over, I needed to get back to work. We had planned to acquire a transit visa in Warszawa, but it wasn't that easy ... "we're reconstructing and moving the embassy right now ... come back four weeks later! Oh, and by the way, the processing time is four weeks". Well, they didn't check for visas when entering the ferry to Sweden, and on the border control all we had to do was nod and reply "yes" when the police asked if we were Norwegians (those were the good times!). Unfortunately my wife hadn't learnt Swedish too well, so she hesitated for a bit too long when getting the question. Eventually we got to learn that the local police chief could issue an "emergency transit visa" if he was in a good mood. Some hours later we learned that he was in a good mood that day. We had to pay quite much for the visa though. :-)

Well..whitey is generally not as criminal , so they give us more slack. Just a fact💣😊😲

Should I upvote that ?! ah- im running low on vote power so... hahahahahahahaha
