Whats in my Vest? Living In the North Woods.

You may have noticed me wearing this vest in a few pictures/posts including my profile picture, I figured I'd give you the low down on why I wear it and whats in it.

Here in northern Manitoba there is miles upon miles of untamed wilderness and beautiful fresh water lakes.

You never know when you're going to need it or anything inside.
I like wearing my load bearing vest compared to carrying a bug out bag because the 15lb load in my vest is more evenly distributed, which it makes it alot easier to move around in thick bush and Canadian Shield.

Let's start with the top left pocket and go right.
1- collapsible candle lantern
2- muskol oil, flashlight and lypsyl
3- lighter and permanent marker

hanging items in centre - different sized carabiners , hair elastics; you have no idea how handy these really are, I even got Jay wanting some on his vest! 😉 and my folding Buck filleting knife

4- pen sized multi screwdriver
5- tightly rolled asswipe in a ziplock baggy and a small roll of mechanics wire
6- rolled bags; large freezer bag, med freezer bag, snack sized bags, a few garbage bags and a compass
with a few safety pins pinned above.

Bottom pockets and hanging items:
Left hanging- multi-tool with pliers, can opener, 2 screw driver tips, 3 small knife blades, a saw and a file.
Left pocket- a round air tight container wrapped with some fish line, that consists of a few fish hooks, mosquito coils and some fire starter cubes.
Centre hanging items- skinning blade and binoculars

Right pocket- is usually my phone and stuff I would normally carry.

On to the Back pockets

Top pocket- has my rain poncho. the poncho has eyelets so that it could be hung as small shelter if needed.
Left- hat, bug net, gloves and a can of cooked ham. 😏
Centre- shemagh head wrap.
Right- a square airtight container that contains a ziplock of bandaids, ziplock of matches, ziplock of crazy glue, tweezers, small scissors, super thick (fishline like) thread with two needles, paperclips, vaseline, floss, few toothpicks, tampons, tinfoil, polysporin, ziplock of tylenol, advil, asprin and benedryl.

Even Snoopy fits!! 😂

My vest currently weighs about 15lbs and I am always throwing new stuff in it.
