This is the part where...

I usually ramble on about some particular ball of fluff hiding betwixt skirting board and side-table. You can see what I mean by scanning the footer of that same first post that you've probably just read. Click and you shall be transported to places where buses never go.

Instead, let me present to you the one and only episode I could find of a show that I remember with fondness as it etched an indelible scar on my young and plastic mind.

Whenever vintage shows come up as a topic of pointless banter, I remember this children's cartoon show from when I was a child. A few years ago, I recall trying to find it on the net, as one easily falls prey to pointless searches in the quest for fruitless answers.

Well, it was like it never existed. A few brave souls could be found admitting they also had been scarred for life, but the programmes themselves had been mercifully erased so that future generations would be spared the mental anguish of thinking.

This used to be shown on a Sunday morning on British ITV and made a bit of light relief from the Open University on BBC2. If my memory has not wholly confabulated the whole experience, I also think it was scheduled just before the serious political jousting of the week. So even the schedulers had a bit of a giggle.

Anyway, space and time have both been filled, so here comes some sound...

My favourite character was the Fastidious Fish, though I probably didn't know what fastidious meant then, and I would never have remembered the name anyway. However, he was a fish and lived in a fish bowl but with stilts to help him (and the bowl) walk around a bit.

You may slide further into the Tomfoolery wormhole here, here and here. I also recall reading that the show was guillotined after one season because the networks thought it was completely incomprehensible to most children. Of course, cartoons have come a long way since then.

They are now incomprehensible to adults.
