probability will always beat fate

I think this is true. I don't think there is a supernaturally predetermined fate for us.

I actually think probability is fate, and fate is probability. All we can do is make our choices in life based on what we think will probably turn out as we wish, based on as much data as we can reasonably collect. And then the dice are rolled and probability determines our fate.

It may be totally deterministic; if we knew every state of every particle in the universe, we might know exactly what the future holds. But to us, it looks like random things happen with a certain probability. Kind of like a huge Role Playing game. And we could be in one of those too! Some say the universe is just a simulation.
