WHAT HAVE I JUST DONE(chapter 2): WE ALL HAVE SECRETS.

Hello Steemians, yesterday I entered @steemit-virus contest for the very first time, a contest anchored by @gbenga to reward creativity. I wrote a story describing the above picture and the story can be found at the link below:

Today I want to do a follow up by writing the second part of that story, so take your time to read the first part to have a better understanding of this post.

That was their last exchange before he smashed her head with the flower vase, and it kept replaying in his head. His Clara, his beautiful wife is dead and he killed her in a moment of rage. He looked at his dirty hands a reminder of his murderous act, he needs a drink right now he thought to himself as he poured a bourbon which he swallowed in one gulp.

He had to move, the cops would soon be here. He took a hot shower, and made himself presentable, just as he stepped out from the bedroom, the door bell rang and he went to get the door.

Detective Collins looked like a man who knew his onions, his questions about his missing wife, were short and precise, but Steve maintained his composure as he answered them all, and within a short time, the cops were on their way, promising to find his wife, while he promised to assist them in any way possible.

As the cops left, he was relieved, from the tone of the questions he was asked, he was sure he wasn't a suspect, at least no one would look his direction, he has succeeded in sending the police on a wild goose chase. But he had questions of his own, it was at this point he discovered that he didn't really know much about the woman he married.

He wanted answers:
Why did she cheat on him even after everything he had done for her?
Why would his best friend Mark stab him in the back that way?
Were there other men too or was it Mark alone?

With all these questions going through his head, Steve decided to carry out his own investigations, he set out to find out everything he could about his late wife, and for a man with his resources and affluence gathering information wasn't a problem, but then some secrets are best left uncovered.

During the course of his investigation, Steve found out Clara was a fake. Her name was Sharon and she was a con artist. She uses her beauty as a leverage to disposses unsuspecting wealthy men of their riches, and then abandon them after milking them dry, but that was not all.

The shocker that disoriented Steve was that his childhood friend and best friend was Clara's lover, and partner in the con business. Who would ever believe Mark could do this.

His marriage to Clara was actually a job. The plan was to milk him dry and then elope with the money to an unknown location, where they would start a new life. How could Mark be a part of this, all he had to do was ask and he would give him money if that's what he wanted. But he wanted to take over every thing, little wonder he was encouraging him to hurry things up with Clara before another guy stepped in. Steve was supposed to be their last gig and he truly was their last gig.

He was blinded by love, was it really love? He was blinded by her mesmerizing beauty, that he forgot his most important guiding principle, which was to never take anything or anyone at face value.

He failed to look before he leaped, and for that he paid dearly. In his moment of rage he acted and now he has a grave hiding his murderous act, a secret he hoped would remain buried, but what he didn't know was that while he went around gathering information on his late wife, the police were on his trail.

As Detective Collins stepped into his office that beautiful Wednesday morning, eight months after his wife went missing, Steve is about to find out the true meaning of the saying that says: SOME SECRETS NEVER LEAVE US ALONE.
