Song Writing (2015)

The decision to be KarlaGod, opened my eyes to another world of music. Here, music went beyond just the lyrics, I had to pay attention, extra attention to the melody, harmony and other things🎵🎶🎹.
So when I got beats, or I hear a melody, I let it determine, the 3 T's. My relationship with songs changed, I didn't just listen to them for pleasure, I listened to them for learning. I became more aware of melodies and harmonies and sometimes they came to me, like, I could just be doing the dishes, walking up the street, or sometimes reading, and while I was doing this, I'd hear tunes, melodies in my head.

My phone voice recorder became one of my most used app, plus my note pad app; I tell you, if I ever lost my phone, the thing that would hurt me most wouldn't be lost contacts, it would be lost ideas. But thank God, I never lost my phone😃. I had major influencers during this song writing chapter, they still influence me today, these were people that I used to listen to for fun, but I began listening to them for learning. They were:⬇

Lauryn Hill
Kim-Walker Smith
Ada
WeR³
Jay-Z
Jackie Hill Perry
Chiedozie Ariri
Pearl Jam
Sons Of Thunder

These are song writers and artistes that affect my music career, I learn something new from them everyday that improves my music. I started scoring songs, and rehearsing them to sing, I remember one Lara George's song I did, it was so beautiful it ministered to me and that was why I ministered it.

I got to know a keyboardist 👦during this chapter of my life, his name is...... Drum rolls please 😁, drum rolls and applauses, Klyn Keys 😊😊😊 aka @klynic, y'all know him.

He taught me a lot, one of my great critics, he tore down wrongs and built up rights, he is a very good teacher, he is actually a music teacher, and a published author, he wrote a book called "Me and My Piano", 📓you should get it.

I remember an all night we had, to rehearse one rock song I wrote in 2014, (Klyn, if you're reading this, of course you're reading this😒, I think we should re-work on that song oh... Maybe one of these days though) we worked on this song for hours through the night, it was a new experience for me because Klyn is a very excellent person, if you don't get it right, you have to do it again. I ministered that song, and continued scoring other songs, I had not yet written a rap song.

The first rap song I wrote was on the 2nd of January 2015, it's titled "Time to triumph". This is how it came to me;

➡Lyrics first
➡Then the idea of how I wanted the flow to be like....
➡Then afterwards.... I looked for a beat that suited what was in my head.

The beat I chose was "Black Widow by Rita Ora and Iggy". As soon as I heard it I knew who I should feature↔Membrane.

We did this song on a Sunday morning, it was another level of Epic, even though the sound was not so good😮, our mics kept tripping off and on🎤, but it was amazing, people came to me after service and the kept saying 😊 "oh my God that song was beautiful", I got a lot of smilling faces🙆, my teacher White Mic, congratulated me, my Choir leader, Bro Chiedozie, and a lot of other music persons.

This was a contrast to 2010 right? (check teaching investment II), hmmmmmm, after 5years, consistency really is key.

@its-kg... I read this from the beginning till the end.
It's so inspirational, I can a little bit of myself in every line you wrote.
I think we have similar experience, though not dt close
I started getting serious with learning songs more than listening when I started reading note in every song I listened to.
I learn how to play piano by myself, cos I understood solfa note.
You will become the next big thing.
