Top Fantasy Football Players by Position

in #nfl5 years ago (edited)

Hey everyone. Looks like we stumbled through another fantasy football season. This season felt like it went by quick. Hopefully, a few of you out there were lucky enough to win your championship. Unfortunately, I did not win any championships this year, but I still had fun playing, and I take this as a learning opportunity and a way to look forward to improving next year. Lets take a look at the top players according to positions.

First up we have the quarterback position. The number one QB this year goes to a second year player...Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs. Mahomes exploded out of nowhere this year. He consistently put up QB 1 numbers, and he was drafted very late this year, if even drafted at all. Many lucky owners were lucky enough to grab Mahomes off of the waiver wire. He was head and shoulders above the competition. He is definitely on the radar now, so don't expect to draft him late next year. He may be one of the top QB's in the draft...especially in dynasty leagues.

Next up is the wide receiver position. This position was pretty close when it came to the top three for Points Per Reception leagues (PPR). This year Antonio Brown, was dethroned and the top spot went to Davante Adams from the Green Bay Packers. The top names were the usual suspects, so the draft order was pretty on point this year. I was a little surprised to see Adams on the top of the list, since I felt like Aaron Rogers had a bit a down year this year compared to other years. I would expect Adams to remain a top pick for next season. I would also keep an eye on Tyreek Hill. He had some monster games this year, and it helps when you have Mahomes throwing you the ball.

The top running back spot in PPR leagues goes to Christina McCaffrey from the Carolina Panthers. He had a monstrous season, especially during the second half of the season. He passed Gurley in PPR formats, who also had a monstrous season. Everyone knew Gurley was going to have a monstrous season, but he costed you the 1st pick overall. McCaffrey was a steal in the second and even third rounds. I would expect his value to rise next season in PPR formats. I would also expect Barkley from the G-Men to be a top pick. He had a fantastic season, and he is only a rookie.

And for the last position in this post...the Tight End position. This was a difficult year for TE's. There were very few consistent TE's that you could rely on on a weekly basis. Gronkowski really dropped off from being the top tight end. He was very overvalued this season early in the draft. Unfortunately if you drafted him, he most likely hurt your team and you wasted a 2nd/3rd round pick. The top TE was Travis Kelce of the KC Chiefs, followed by Zack Ertz of Philly. Honorable mentions go to Kittle from the 49ers. I think it might be worth looking into drafting one of these top 3 early next year in the draft. They really gave your team a big advantage when they put up numbers. There were a lot of bust TE's that hurt you and were very tough to rely on. I know I will be looking to grabbing one of these top 3 next year.

Well that is all for now. I hope you enjoyed reading and enjoyed your fantasy football season. Next year will be here before you know it, so I will be keeping you informed with draft picks in the upcoming months. Thanks for stopping by and I will see you again soon.
