Trying "To Steal" Some of Youtube's Demonetized and Frustrated Content Creators. Will it Work?

in #newsteem5 years ago

Having this cold that is torturing me for almost four days, I got to stay everyday, the whole day, for the past four days, almost entirely inside. I've had some 10-15 minutes out time per day but that's nothing. I took pills and everything but doesn't seem to help. I guess the hard job is still on the back of my immune system, which is not the strongest in the world.

Having that much time to spend inside, without my will, doesn't mean that I've done something productive like reading a book or perfecting my German language with that time. No sir, I just watched tons of videos on youtube on almost any topic that the "recommended for you" page had to offer and read some tweets and Steem artciles. Youtube, not porntube, for the record. The second category is out of discussion.

While consuming "free content" like a maniac I could observe plenty of youtubers complaining about some of their work being demonetized and even having an entire channel getting demonetized. Some got demonetized only when uploading some sort of content which previously was no problem while others didn't even got a reply from the giant streamer after they complained about the situation.

Now... I only have two videos uploaded on youtube and they both have maximum 10 views...combined, so I'm not having the same problem as they have but I kinda emphasized with them and the first thing that came to my mind was Steem/DTube and some other apps that might help them so I commented on their videos with the following:

"Have you tried Steem? It's a blockchain based social media type platform that rewards users for creating good content. You won't encounter this problem there for sure. Have a look at steemit.com if you're interested and see what's about."

How would Steem help them? The same it did with plenty of good creators that this blockchain has in its glory times, which is by rewards, yes these $7 pre Steem rewards. Are these rewards as juicy as the youtube ones? At the moment they might not be, due to the depreciation of the crypto market and in particularly Steem, but if we get to the bull cycle again they might become juicy. Plus that Steem is decentralized and no one can shut you down. You can get flagged but it's not the same thing.

Now another question pops to my mind which is how would they, the youtubers, help Steem by joining it? Simple, by joining the blockchain all they can do is to mention once in a while about it on their youtube uploaded videos, because for sure they will not quit it forever all of a sudden, and why not on social media. There are people with hundreds of thousands or even millions of followers getting demonetized by "the giant red spider".

Whether any of my targeted users withe the invitation to join Steem will give any answer or even come join us is just a matter of time and will but I sure hope they will do that because I'm curious about their take on Steem and if they'd dump/switch youtube for DTube or other apps that Steem has to offer. They could also buy some liquid Steem on the way to help appreciate it a bit as it has tumbled pretty hard this year.

Thanks for attention,
Adrian

I keep on hearing this story about there being no censorship on Steemit and that flagging is not the same.

Well, why are you/they complaining about being 'de-monetised' on youtube then? They are not being censored, us, the public, if we take the trouble and search, we'll find their videos.

So, if it is the same here and there, why would anyone want to even try our beloved platform? It would not be because of the millions of viewers here. The way it is going, I will not be surprised to learn one day that we have more flaggers than creators (keep in mind that many of the flaggers - with their new accounts that have no posts so that they cannot be attacked - are actually those who are so-called 'curators or groups who call themselves curators. Have any of them declared they have an interest in flagging all who use their competitors?

You Tubers, never just believe what you are told, all platforms have the up and down sides. Make an informed decision always.

I totally agree that every platform has its own up and down side but the problem with such youtubers is not censorship because their videos are not being removed. It's the fact that they are not earning anything anymore with such videos. In here on the other hand if one would be that followed as on youtube he could have some good rewards. Rewards that for now might not mean too much at the current price of Steem but could dramatically increase. In regards of flagging I don't see the situation that dramatic. As long as you don't get involved in wars and mind your own business you can stay away from them. Even in the case of users that were abusively targeted by flaggers "savers" have been found that counteract the flags. I know that my idea might be just dust in the wind but considering it only took a minute to put it to work I felt like doing it.

That's indeed a good idea and should be better rewarded, good post, hope @smartsteem , @whatsup , @exyle , @theycallmedan and other good steemians take note of the initiative here. I myself am going to do similarly, let's see how it evolves.

It's interesting that a previous post from you inspired me to do that. I don't have too big hopes for Steem anymore as I used to have a year ago but I don't feel like quitting it. It is still an alternative to other platforms or we could say on that is currently in work. Thanks for mentioning some of the whales in your comment but I doubt my post will get that much attention :)
Hope to see your comment or the one of any other steemian on such mentioned youtube videos. It feels nice seeing Steem being mentioned about here and there.

Really, I think someone big read it ;-)
!BEER

Command accepted!

I think I got the cold from cold beer so I'm gonna skip this one. Thanks anyway :)

Hey @acesontop, here is a little bit of BEER for you. Enjoy it!

I think it's a good idea in theory to show them 3speak.io or dtube but i would also say that new users need to be looked after when they are brought here for the moment. You would need to make sure that they know how to use the system as it's still overly complicated and get them noticed as it can be frustrating to not get seen a the beginning. There have been lots of youtube people that started here and quit very fast as they didn't have the same earnings and attention.

I agree. You kind of take everything from scratch in here but when you have your channel being demonetized you start searching for alternatives. That's what I would do.
I must admit though that I haven't tried 3speak.io yet. I had some videos that I wanted to upload on dtube and couldn't. Probably this new app will do the job. Thanks for your comment.

steem is less than 0.13
and the dynamics is.... negative.

It's actually close to 15 cents but that's not the end of its existence. I hope/believe that the whole crypto market and Steem as well will climb higher again. Holding Steem might reward you at some point in time. Hopefully the next year.

i just entered it -- 176 days ago. ofc HODLing and growing is the only way for me, up and up higher. and I should add to your words, that ALL OTHER platforms proved to be more unstable and obscure in terms of monetizing, then steemit...
so, this blockchain is like 'best among the worst' )))
cheers!

Here's one example of youtuber that posts on Steem as well.

I've seen this guy quite a few times on youtube. Not a fan but he seems pretty active in here as well.
